One Room Challenge: Week 5 {Almost There}

Welcome to the final week before our BIG One Room Challenge reveal!

Five short weeks ago I pledged to completely transform our son’s outdated and boring bedroom into a rustic, cabin-themed retreat in just six weeks. And then I began to eat, sleep and dream all things cabin every day since. Six weeks seemed like a bit of a crunch to transform and entire room, but not impossible. One week to tackle what’s left, now that’s sounding a little more daunting.

In the interest of building my dwindling confidence back up, let’s just review what we’ve managed to get done so far:

Week One was all about making plans and thankfully Week Two saw a ton of progress. Week Three was our most unproductive week yet, but luckily we got back on track with some organizing in Week Four.

Week Five was all about finishing up those little projects that were adding up to big stress and let me tell you, it felt pretty great to {finally} knock a few more things off the list!

I also found the perfect lamp!

And picked up a few other fun accessories to add to the room.

We finally added a light fixture that I couldn’t be happier with!
 

Aaaaand, most exciting of all … we finally got that plank wall stained! I’m absolutely, positively, head-over-heels in LOVE with how it turned out! Wondering how I found that perfectly weathered grey? You’ll have to check back next Tuesday for all the deets (or hop on over to Instagram for a hint!)!!!

So, here’s a re-cap of where we’re sitting with things now…

– paint walls with Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl
– replace closet doors
– paint doors trim work with Benjamin Moore’s Paper Mache
– replace door and closet hardware
– DIY plank wall (almost done with this!)
– add light fixture
– blackout blind
– make DIY window valance (this one’s back on the list!!!)
– make DIY bedside table (sharing details soon!)
– paint DIY crate table
– make DIY headboard
– find & purchase accessories
– make (or buy) laundry basket
– make artwork
– create reading nook

With one week left, there’s still SO MUCH to do! It’s a good thing my excitement to see how it comes together is overshadowing my panic about how the heck I’m going to get this all done!

Here’s what I’m hoping the last week of this One Room Challenge will look like:

Thursday – create custom art work
Friday – build headboard
Saturday – finish the headboard and replace the baseboards
Sunday – change the valance (again) and update all the electrical plugs and light switch
Monday – hang art & fill the room with fun treasures
Tuesday – photograph
Wednesday – edit photos and write post for late night reveal!

Wish me luck my friends! I’m sure going to need it!!!
