These DIY Christmas ribbon spools are the perfect addition to your holiday decor and they’re SO quick + easy to make!
Hello, hello my friends! I’m so happy you’re here!
I’m thrilled to be teaming up with a truly amazing group of Canadian bloggers to share all sorts of crafty Christmas inspiration with y’all today!
If you’ve been following along with our adventures the last few months, you probably already know that Christmas in the Mercer house is looking a little different this year.
With most of our main floor under renovation at the moment, I’ve had to get pretty creative with our Christmas decor this year!
Instead of decking out our kitchen, dining area and living room as we have in years passed, our Christmas decorations have migrated to our bedrooms and family room (which I’ll be sharing tomorrow) instead.
I have to admit, I love how cozy our bedroom is feeling all full of Christmas cheer!
It’s been the perfect escape from all that renovation chaos happening downstairs.
And of course, even with all that reno madness going on in the background, this gal just couldn’t resist a bit of Christmas crafting in between all that demo and construction.
Thank goodness these sweet little Christmas ribbon spools were so quick + easy to make!
I started with just a few supplies…
– a 4″ wooden circle plaque for each end
– a wooden spool
– my favourite wood stain
– a set of rubber stamps + ink pad
– hot glue gun
– some pretty ribbon
With my hot glue gun, I attached a wood circle plaque to each end of my spool. Then, I lightly stamped a vintage inspired design onto each end.
And finally, I wiped a light coat of stain over the entire thing to deepen the colour just a bit.
With my spool made, I wound some pretty ribbons and strings around each one, pinning the ends in place with some pretty pearl pins.
I mixed my homemade versions with a few that I found online in a simple pile on my dresser and I just love the warmth they bring to the space!
For such a simple craft, I love the possibilities to vary the style and with a simple change of ribbon, I’ll be able to put these ribbon spools to work all year long!
Now, be sure to check out the crafty ideas my fellow Canadian bloggy friends have come up with too!
