Hello friends! Welcome to September?! Wait… that can’t be right, can it?
It may just be the beginning of September (and technically still Summer according to our calendar!), but Fall is most definitely in the air already here in Northern Alberta. The leaves are very quickly changing colour, the air is feeling crisp and cool and I’m only having to mow our lawn once a week (wahoo!).
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE Fall?
Crackling fires, pumpkin spice everything, cozy sweaters, scarves and boots … it’s my absolute favourite season!
I’ve got to say that as much as I love the long, lazy, spontaneous days of Summer, I’m definitely looking forward to the routine and predictability that Fall brings back into our lives.
We’ve got all sorts of fun to look forward to as our little man heads back to pre-school (the four year old program this time around). He’ll also be starting some music lessons and absolutely cannot wait to learn all about Taekwondo! It really is so fun to see him getting SO excited about trying all of these new things!
Things around the house are getting crazier than ever as we try to catch up from an entire Summer’s break away from all things renovation. With Fall rolling in, we’re suddenly finding ourselves feeling a sense of urgency to tackle all of those projects we’d been planning to take on through the Summer, but never really got around to. I’ve been sharing all sorts of sneak peeks about what we’ve been up to over on Instagram, but I’m excited to officially announce our latest renovation plans…
We all know how important curb appeal is – I mean, it’s the very first impression a home can make. And ours, well, it was seriously lacking much of anything. The porch was falling apart, our sidewalk and front step had sunken right into the ground, the lighting was totally lacklustre and bland, our shutters were all cracked and chipped, as were our 40 year old windows … basically, our house was a mess.
Obviously, I couldn’t wait to make a few changes!
Unfortunately, because we wasted away our whole Summer with frivolous things like camping and family time, it’s pretty likely that we won’t get to take care of every single little thing this year, but I have no doubt, we’ll certainly make some incredible progress!
You’ll have to check back next week to see what we’re working with and how we plan to update everything, but rest assured, it’s going to be AHHHMAZING!
Of course, in the midst of all this, the never ending office makeover is still in the works, though I promise, the end is finally in sight. And friends, I cannot wait to share it!!!
Between family life, house renovations and of course, our day jobs, we’ve got so, so much going on at the moment, but my goodness, it’s all pretty darn exciting!!!
I cannot wait to start sharing some updates of it all soon, but in the mean time, here’s a quick update of where I am currently …
Reading: I’ve been absolutely devouring this latest read!
Writing: I feel like I haven’t been writing much of anything these days, but I did just finish jotting down a list of projects for our next ORC makeover (coming this Fall!).
Watching: Not much really. Instead, I’ve been climbing into the tub with a good book (here’s a list of a few favourites).
Needing: These gorgeous bookends from Magnolia Home … they’d look so perfect in my office space. {sigh}
Creating: A creative space all my own!!!
Learning: How to up my photography game!
Planning: My office reveal, our next ORC makeover and some serious upgrades to our curb appeal in between it all. Seriously. My head is spinning.
Loving: This brilliant coffee maker has totally changed my life! Good riddance Keurig … you can bet I won’t miss those mornings you refused to work (even though you were just a few months old!) and I have to say I feel so much better about not adding 3-4 little cups to our landfill every day.
Dreaming about: Heading to Kananaskis in a few weeks for some fun in the mountains with our family!
Wearing: These GORGEOUS boots!
Coveting: All sorts of gorgeous farmhouse decor finds … {sigh}.
Working for me right now: This brilliant planner.
What’s not: Trying to juggle it all. When will I learn?!
Anticipating: All of the fun new activities that Fall will bring!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?
Now please excuse me while I curl up with my latest read & a morning coffee…
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!

Hi Kristi! Oh those booties look really comfortable! How is the Poppy Barley fit? Pretty true to US sizing? (Considering the investment, as I am looking, but for a taller heel.) Loving the Fall preview weather too!
Hey Kris! They are AHHHMAZING! They fit very true to size – I wear a size six (US and Canada are the same sizing thankfully) and they feel just tight enough to give me a bit of room as the leather stretches. They make SUCH gorgeous shoes and boots – I want them ALL!!! Happy shopping friend!
I love your office makeover! Even if it is taking too long (in your mind), it has come out beautifully so far. I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to on the exterior of your home, too!
Awwww, well thank you Sarah! I just get so excited to get everything all finished up! ๐
Sounds like you guys had a great summer and busy fall ahead of you. I hear your pain about curb appeal, our home is lacking it MARJORLY!! It was on the plan for spring/summer and now has moved to fall, lol! I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with, everything you do turns out so beautifully. So I am sure it will amazing!
You are much too sweet Sabrina! Thank you SO much for the kind words!!! Here’s hoping we can both find at least some curb appeal before Winter rolls around! ๐
I love the floral detail on the bottom of the boots, so cute ๐
My house is a fixer upper as well, and I think this year I am finally going to get some projects done that are visible for once, like getting the house painted! Can’t wait until I get to the portion of my (long) list that is more about aesthetics and not because something is broken, ha.
Thanks so much Heather! Wishing you luck getting some of those projects crossed off your list – painting is a great start, I’m always amazed at what a difference it can make!
Hi Kristi! Wow, you’ve got a lot going on as well, it all sounds exciting and I’m sure all of your projects will turn out amazing, as usual ๐ Love those boots and can’t wait to wear some here, but it will take a bit more time until it cools down where I am. I am back at work as a kindergarten teacher after a long 10 years break, lol and I don’t know how to keep up, I’m exhausted! I’m just into the easy peasy little projects right now. Well, have fun with all of yours I’ll sure come by and check them out!
Ahhhh, Kindergarten – SO fun! I miss teaching so much at times and then life gets crazy and I’m so glad I’ve still got the flexibility of subbing, though I am very excited to have a classroom of my own once again! Congrats to you Katrin, wishing you the best of luck as you get rolling in this new adventure!
Oooh, I love that you’re getting your own creative space! That is fantastic! Also, I’m totally with you on loving fall. Everything about the season fills me with joy! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday this week!
Thank you Marie!!! I’m SO excited to see it all come together!
