Catching you up on all things currently.
Happy Monday friends, I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Ours was a good mix of fun while managing to get a few things done around the house. That was the name of the game for us through July really as we enjoyed all of the sunshine and freedom that Summer has to offer and did our best to sneak a bit of work in where we could. Honestly, August is likely to be much the same – as much Summer fun as we can squeeze into our days and a few projects to work in around it all. It’s always a game of priorities, but Summer always brings that to a new level around here as we do our very best to make the most of our short Summers.
It seems so early, but Brady and I were chatting about it yesterday and we’ve definitely noticed some hints to Fall in the air this past week. A little more crispness to our mornings, rainy days just have a bit more bite to them again, and the leaves are just starting to show the faintest signs of yellow. Just another reminder to soak up as much Summer as we can I guess.

Last month, I shared this Summer project list and so far, I’d say we’re making decent progress. After a ton of work, Brady’s finally got our in-ground sprinkler system up and running and it’s been absolutely life-changing. I can’t believe how much simpler it’s made all of the watering around our property, most especially all of the new plants I put in this Spring. While Brady was working away on the sprinkler system, I managed to get our garage doors painted AND paint the study (again). The garage doors were a pretty quick project, but our study took me ages to paint – it was SO worth it though! I love how much lighter it feels! As for the rest of the list, I’m hoping to work my way through the rest of the outdoor projects over the next couple of weeks here – my plan is to get our new exterior lights ordered up this week (just as soon as I decide which way I want to go) and, now that the sprinklers around the gardens are done, I can get on spreading some mulch to cover all of the dirt. Hopefully by the end of August our exterior and yard will be looking much more finished.

Read on for a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: I just started reading this book and so far, it’s super cute! I’ve also listening to this audiobook through all of my gardening and painting this week and I have to say, it’s probably one of the best books I’ve read in a long time! Would highly recommend!
Writing: I’m planning to start up a little newsletter to share each week, filled with some of my favourite finds, life updates and all sorts of sneak peeks that I won’t be sharing anywhere else! If you want to follow along, you can subscribe here.
Pinning: I’ve been filling up this board with all sorts of design inspiration for our study.
Needing: To decide on our exterior lights! Check out my favourite options here and let me know which you would choose.
Creating: Some mood boards for our study. Planning to share the first peeks in my weekly newsletter, subscribe here to follow along.
Loving: I made this super simple chicken stroganoff last week and it was SO good! I added a bit of tarragon and served it with mashed potatoes. I’ll definitely be making it again soon!
To Do: We’re just going to keep chipping away at our Summer project list.
Wearing: I’ve been living in these super cute short-alls! Seriously, these have become my go-to Summer outfit.
On my wish list: I am head-over-heels in love with this sofa! It would be so perfect for our study if it weren’t so long – hoping we can find something similar in a shorter length.
Planning: I’ve got some super fun posts coming your way through the month ahead including: a one year house update, a curtain hack to make extendable curtain rods glide more smoothly (life changing!), my favourite black paint colours and some mood boards for our study.
Working for me right now: The long, free days of Summer with Carson.
What’s not: I’ve got a half marathon coming up next month that I haven’t even begun to start training for. Whoops!
Anticipating: We don’t have a ton of plans for the month ahead, but I’m so looking forward to seeing where all that freedom takes us.
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
