Welcome to August my friends! Can you believe it?! AUGUST!!!
We’ve had a ton going on these last few weeks and I can’t wait to fill you in!
Summer has been SO very busy with each and every weekend filling up quickly (you might think I’m exaggerating, but I promise you, I’m not). I absolutely love that we’ve got SO much to look forward to, but I’m also making a point to enjoy some down time on the weekdays between it all.
We had an absolute blast on our first family vacation of the Summer, road-tripping it around beautiful British Columbia! It was SO much fun sharing our golf, beach, ferry, shopping, hiking & water taxi adventures with our crazy little man. Experiencing all of these new things through his eyes, most for the first time, made our adventures together just that much more special!
If you follow along with me on Instagram, you may have noticed me flooding your feeds with all sorts of vacay pics …
I may have been holidaying for much of this month, but I did manage to share a few posts that had me over the moon excited!
What would Summer be without some great reads to kick back with?
I managed to knock out a few projects that I’m pretty darn proud of too like this DIY Trumeau Mirror.
And this pretty DIY Boxwood Wreath.
And now, here’s a quick update of where I am currently …

Reading: After devouring The Girl on the Train, The Husband’s Secret and Orphan Train, I’m just getting into We Are Not Ourselves. Don’t forget to check out my Summer reading list to see what’s up next.
Writing: Now that school is over and I’ve actually got some time to work on the blog a bit, I’m hoping to put together a few special things for my newsletter subscribers! Watch your inboxes friends!
Watching: Summers are for reading out on the porch, so not much to report here (aside from Big Brother of course!).
Listening to: I chatted about it last month, but Shut up and Dance with Me by Walk the Moon has become the anthem of our Summer! In fact, I catch Carson singing it (his version is “come on and dance with me”) while he’s playing.
Needing: Those lazy days of Summer (please!).
Creating: Hubs and I are (still) working on some plans for our latest reno project! We’re taking on the front porch and couldn’t be more excited to create a cozy and welcoming space! We’ve also teamed up with a fabulous designer to take on our biggest project yet and I absolutely cannot wait to spill the beans!!!
Learning: How tidying up my home can set me up for success in all areas of my life (I knew it!). Hoping to start a series with one of my fave bloggy friends chatting about our own journey to tidy our homes.
Planning: As I mention before, our Summer is jam packed with trips including all of my faves: camping, mountain biking, hiking and weddings! We’ve got so much to look forward to!
Loving: Summer Vacation!!! There’s just nothing like it!
Dreaming about: BBQ’s, blended drinks, play dates, beach time and afternoon reading in the sun.
Wearing: This blouse! Seriously … I love it!
Coveting: I’m pretty sure if I could own this gorgeous chandelier, my world would be complete!
Working for me right now: These long, warm days of Summer have me feeling energized and motivated to take on the world!
What’s not: Time outs for our “three-nager”. We’re finding this age incredibly challenging as Carson pushes his limits. Any suggestions?
Anticipating: Watching our amazing friends get married and perhaps a bit of mountain biking while we’re there too 😉
Now, I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!

Isn’t it crazy how fast the summer goes by? It looks (and sounds!) like you and the fam have had a wonderful time, and I’m loving all the awesome pics! My summer has been absolutely nuts as well, but I’d choose being crazy busy over being bored any day 🙂
Agreed! Busy means a ton to look forward to! 😉 Thanks LZ! SO happy to hear you’re enjoying your summer too!
Sounds like summer’s been a blast, Kristi! I hope Aug. crawls by…. so not ready for back to school! Enjoy it all friend, and soak up all the fun things that are happening in your life right now! xo
Thank you Kendra! Hoping our August floats by at a slower pace too! Enjoy it girl! xo
Hi Kristi, I hear you on needing those lazy days of summer back. It’s winter here in Australia, so brrrrr…!!! Plus the school holiday has made my life a little more hectic than usual 😀 Love the holiday pictures. Looks like you’re having a lovely time.
Thank you Veronica! Summer has been so wonderful, but I’m definitely looking forward to things slowing down a bit in a few weeks!!! I’m thinking winter in Australia isn’t quite as cold as I’m picturing from up here in Canada 😉
I love these posts that you do! Always fun to see what you’re up to. And 3 is definitely the hardest age (well, I’ve only gotten to 10, I’m sure the teenage years will prove difficult as well, but from 0-10, 3 is very trying).
Awwww, thank you Erin! Two was so challenging that I was sort of hoping three would be a breeze 😉 Here’s hoping four is a little easier!
I love your “currently”! Come see mine at simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
Best,
Michelle
Awwww, thanks so much Michelle! Will definitely pop by 🙂
My son, also named Carson, is also three and is a butt head to be honest. I’m not winning at all there but I thought I should let you know you’re not alone. He’s awesome but golly gee the attitude is fierce. I can’t wait to see the deal with your designer team up and the porch!
Awwwwww, thank you SO much Corinna! I REALLY needed to hear that! Sometimes you just feel like you must be doing everything wrong, you know? And how neat that you’ve got a three year old Carson too!!! CRAZY!!!
I can’t believe how fast summer seems to be zipping by! Soon it will be fall weather–not that I’m complaining! Always love reading your currently posts. Thank you SO much for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
Thank you SO much Amanda! They really are fun to write! I honestly cannot believe how quickly this Summer is flying by, which just makes me want to soak as much Summer as I can 😉
Your August looks amazing. Pinned and tweeted. Thank you for bringing such amazing creations to our party. We hope to see you tonight at 7 pm because we LOVE to party with you! Lou Lou Girls
Thank you Kimberly!!! See you there!
Sounds like a great summer Kristi! I’ve been completely swamped with renovating and can’t wait to get back into some regular routine here. I have a feeling that I’ve been reading the same tidying book! Can’t wait to tackle my house this fall (in fact, I think I will begin even sooner)!
Sounds like your Summer has been just as busy as (or busier than) ours! Can’t wait to hear all about this reno journey. I’m actually teaming up with a few bloggy friends as we work our way through the Kon Marie book – we’re planning to start next month, let me know if you’d like to join friend!
