SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE CURRENTLY.
September already! How can that be?! It feels like it was just yesterday that we had a whole Summer stretching out ahead of us. While I’m sad that our Summer seemed to pass so quickly and I’m not sure I’m ready for it to be over, I am looking forward to getting back into the routines that come with Fall rolling in.
Carson headed back to school last week and, while he also wasn’t entirely ready for Summer to end, he was definitely excited to reconnect with his friends again. We were also thrilled to learn that his Grade Five teacher this year just happens to be the very same teacher I had in third grade! Not only that, but she was also my mentor teacher through my practicum as I began my own teaching career. I guess 2022 is going to be a year of full circle moments for the Mercer family. SO special!
With Fall rolling in and Carson back to school now, I have to say, I’m really looking forward to digging into all those jobs around this house that I just couldn’t bring myself to waste away my Summer doing. I’ve got all sorts of plans for the month ahead, you can catch up with them all here if you missed it.
And now, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: I’ve been absolutely loving this new book!
Writing: I’ve been trying to journal for 15-20 minutes at least once a week. I find it brings so much clarity for me. Sometimes I just do a “brain dump” of everything that’s currently swirling around my head, but I’ve really been enjoying these prompts as we head into Fall.
Needing: To choose some new exterior door knobs. I’ve been eyeing up this gorgeous handleset for our front door, but I’m not sure I can justify the price. This option is a close second and for much less money.
Creating: I’ve been gathering up all the inspo for our new home, creating Pinterest boards and Instagram folders for all the different rooms. I’m really trying to hone in on how I want each space to feel and just how I’m going to get there – gathering all of my ideas and inspo together like this is really helping.
Loving: All of the work we’ve got ahead of us in this new house has been a bit overwhelming at times, but it’s really helped to remind ourselves of all the things we love about this old house too. You can read about some of our favourite parts of our new home here.
Wearing: These beauties will be the perfect shoe as we transition to Fall.
On my wish list: Thinking this table would tie in so beautifully with all the oak around our new house!
Planning: A loooooong list of projects we can’t wait to tackle! Here’s where we’ll be starting with things and here’s the list I plan on working through on top of that.
Working for me right now: Practicing gratitude.
What’s not: Worrying about all the work that lies ahead of us here.
Anticipating: Getting started on our first reno project in the new house!
