SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON ALL THINGS {CURRENTLY}…
Happy new year! I hope you’ve had the most wonderful Christmas and great start to the new year so far! I know the holidays felt much different this year, particularly for those of us that were under quite strict restrictions – our provincial government prohibited any visits at all with friends or family, which was especially tough through the holidays. Though we sure missed celebrating the holidays with everyone we love (I particularly missed seeing my Gram this year), we definitely made the most of our extra quality time together with some family time around the house (I think we played nearly every board game and watched every Christmas movie we own!). The boys also snuck away for a couple of days of skiing in Jasper between Christmas and New Year’s Day, which gave me a chance take down and pack away everything Christmas and give the whole house a good, deep clean. There’s nothing like kicking off a new year with a clean, uncluttered home.

Though we didn’t spend much time doing projects around the house through the holidays, we did manage to finish up a few small things. We spent a bit of time setting up and organizing the basement and it’s become our new favourite hang out space. Brady was also beyond excited to build his own keg fridge for our little basement wet bar, hiding the fridge that houses the kegs in our storage room behind the bar and running the taps through the wall to our wet bar.
We also did a HUGE organize of our storage rooms, donating everything we no longer need and building new shelves to house the rest. We tucked everything into a labelled bin, and found a dedicated spot for all of our seasonal sporting gear like hockey equipment, ski gear, etc., making sure that everything has a proper place. We actually spent some time organizing our storage room a few years ago (read more about that here), but things had gotten away from us this past year with our basement renovation and our storage spaces were an absolute disaster. Even though we managed to finish up the basement in December, things really didn’t feel complete until we had the storage rooms all put back together again too.
All that extra time at home gave us a chance to sit down and start dreaming up all of the things we’d love to make happen through the year ahead – house renovations, outdoor spaces, and even travel plans (fingers crossed that becomes a possibility again!). We’ve got a ton of ideas (waaaay more that we could ever really make happen, but it’s fun to dream anyway!) and I can’t wait to share them all.
For now, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: I just cracked open my first book of the year a couple of days ago, and I’m already almost halfway through – SO good!
Writing: I’ve been putting a lot of thought our goals for the year ahead. Most of them are projects we’d like to tackle around the house, but I’ve got a few personal goals as well. Looking forward to sharing them on the blog soon! I’d love to hear some of your goals for the year ahead in the comments below!!!
Watching: We enjoyed a ton of time down in our newly finished basement over the holidays watching all the Christmas movies we could find.
Listening to: Now that we’re rolling back into work on our house projects, I’m looking for some new podcasts to check out – I love listening to inspirational interviews & life stories, as well as home decor + renovation tips, let me know if you have any favourites I should check out.
Needing: To figure out some plans for our old back family room space. Since moving our sofa down to the basement, our back family room has become an empty blank canvas. I’ve always wanted a cozy library space and I’m thinking this newly empty space might just be the place to create it!
Creating: It’s been nothing but basement renovations around here this past month, but we’re finally starting on the deck this week (yes, just in time for Winter to roll in!).
Planning: Far too many projects for 2021! We’ll definitely need to narrow down our list!
Loving: Wainscotting, wallpaper and bold colour…

Wearing: I found these cozy flannel pj’s under the tree this year and I’ve been wearing them ever since! They’re SO warm & cozy!
Coveting: We’ve been on the hunt for a new dining table for a while now and lately this one is catching my eye. It’s a little more modern than I usually lean, but I’m really loving the clean lines and bold look (especially in the black).
Working for me right now: Setting some goals for the year ahead. I LOVE goal setting and dreaming up plans and possibilities (sticking to them is another story).
What’s not: Online school. We’re on day one of five, but very hopeful that we’ll be back in the classroom next week!
Anticipating: Looking forward to a wide open year ahead of us, and dreaming about all of the possibilities it holds.
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
