SHARING MY FAVOURITE READS FROM THE WEEK
Whew! We’ve made it through another week and what a week it’s been my friends! With so many projects on the go right now, not to mention work, school, piano lessons and all the million other things I won’t bother to list for you, our heads are certainly spinning this week trying to keep up with it all.
The basement didn’t see much progress this week (mostly because we were trying to catch up on our outdoor projects instead). The last of our materials and supplies for the powder room arrived this week and I’m sad to say that I’m having second thoughts about the wallpaper – not the idea of wallpaper, but just the colours in the one I’d originally chosen. Going to sit with things over the weekend (maybe even do a little poll on Instagram) and see how I’m feeling about it all next week.
Outside, things are looking a little different for sure. Not only did we get a big old dump of snow, but through it all, Brady managed to finish up the blocking for the deck. Here’s hoping we can get the deck boards on this weekend, so we can call this project done (for the Winter anyway). In case you missed it, you can catch up with our deck plans here.
We spent most of last weekend prepping one little corner of our yard for our new hot tub, which is set to be delivered late next month. It’s going to sit on a concrete pad in a little alcove of our yard between the house and two edges of our fence, which will help to keep it feeling more sheltered and private. In order to prep for the concrete, Brady and I had to remove the existing grass and dig out several inches of dirt underneath. After building and levelling a wood form for the concrete, we hauled in a ton of crushed gravel, spreading, watering down and packing it all in layers until we’d built a strong base for our concrete. The concrete guys actually came to pour the slab this week, but unfortunately, due to the cold weather, things didn’t go as planned, so they’ll be back next week to finish things up instead. Brady’s got his heart set on building a beautiful cedar shelter over the hot tub -ideally he’d like to get done before it’s delivered, but considering all of the projects we have on the go at the moment and the early arrival of Winter we’ve had, I’m not sure how do-able that is. I have no doubt it’s going to be amazing whenever he does get the chance to build it and in the meantime, we’re all just SO excited to finally be getting a hot tub after so many years of wishing for one.
On the blog this week
On Monday, I shared our covered deck plans. I know, perfect timing with Winter rolling in that very same day, but it’s been such a long time coming – better late than never I guess.

And Wednesday I shared 5 DIY home decor projects that I’ve been meaning to tackle for ages.

And now, before I get back to working on all the things, here’s what I’ll be catching up with this weekend…
weekend reading

I think these caramel popcorn balls would make such a yummy snack for school lunches.
Head-over-heels in love with this beautiful DIY upholstered bed.

Are you following along with the One Room Challenge this Fall? I’m loving following along with this living room and this dining space, especially through their Instagram stories. They both have so much charm and character, I can’t wait to see how both of these spaces come together!
And how incredible do these vanilla chai pumpkin latte cupcakes with cinnamon brown sugar frosting look?! YUM!

So excited for this book release next week from one of my favourite interior designers!
And get enough of this bold, inspiring, character-filled Instagram feed.

Swooning over Studio McGee’s entire HOLIDAY COLLECTION!
And finally, here’s what’s on my nightstand right now.
Wishing you the most lovely weekend my friends!
