Currently | Life in June 2025

Oh my goodness! I just can’t even believe June is already rolling in! It feels like just yesterday the snow started melting away and yet, here we are, heading into our last month of the school year. We may be just a few days into the month, but June is already shaping up to be a busy one. We’ve got baseball tournaments, school field trips, and even a local fun run. We’ve got yard work to catch up on, renovations to finish up, and of course following along with our Edmonton Oilers, who are heading to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Teaching through June is always a whirlwind – scorching hot classrooms with no AC, class field trips, report cards to put together, track & field, end of the year celebrations and, of course, somehow trying to still teach through it all – June is by far the longest month of the school year, but it’s honestly always so bitter-sweet when it’s over. While we’ll all definitely be ready for the slower days that summer brings, it’s never easy to say goodbye to the little classroom family we’ve cultivated throughout the year.

To top that all off, Brady is heading into some big projects of his own with work, which will have him working extra hours, including late nights and weekends through until the end of July (something like 60 days straight with just one weekend off around my birthday at the end of June).

If I sound a bit worried and overwhelmed about it all, I am. Ha! I think June is going to be all about taking one step at a time, living in the moment and probably letting a few things go along the way so we can still find plenty of joy and peace through all the busy.

Read on for a quick little update of where we are currently

CURRENTLY

Reading:ย I love a good historical fiction read, I’ve really been enjoying this one!

Needing: Thinking this would make paddle boarding even more fun this summer.

Loving: Hands down our favourite find last month! This brilliant little tv has been such a game changer, letting us take our family movie nights (and Oiler’s games) outside to enjoy the sunshine. It comes pre-loaded with all the streaming channels (including some local channels too), but you can also stream from your phone (that’s how we watch sports, streaming through our local cable tv network). I know it’ll be so handy for sick days in bed and even sleepover nights too. It’s a bit of an investment, but I can see us using this thing for years to come.

To Do: Hahaha! See the beginning of this post. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wearing: Favourite linen shorts ever. Perfect for anything – work, home, going out – and SO comfy.

On my wish list: I’d love another HydroJug water bottle to supplement my current one, that way I wouldn’t ever have to go without one.

Planning: We’ve been slowly thinking through a summer reno list – looking into refinishing the tennis court and/or rebuilding our deck maybe? Stay tuned.

Working for me right now:ย My foot was giving me a bit of trouble after a couple of runs last week, so I forced myself to take the week off and it’s definitely feeling better after some rest. Here’s hoping it still feels great after a run this weekend.

Whatโ€™s not:ย Looks like our second floor reno will be at a stand still for the next couple of months with Brady working so much overtime. We really hoped we’d be able to get the flooring done before Brady’s work ramped up, but looks like it’s going to have to wait until August now. ๐Ÿ™ In the mean time, I’ll keep plugging away at the little things like filling and painting out all of the new trim and doors at least.

Anticipating:ย Summer vacation! Carson and I have two whole months of long, slow summer days ahead. The countdown is on!

Iโ€™d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.

Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
