Sharing my favourite reads from the week.

Happy Friday my friends! How was your week? Another week another couple of rooms painted around here. This week I tackled the back hallway, mudroom, laundry space AND powder room. It was A LOT, but so worth it. I can’t tell you how good it feels to see that bright yellow paint around our home slowly turning to white. Sometimes white can feel cold, especially when it’s the main colour in a space, but somehow the white walls are making this old house feel so much cozier. I was very conscious to choose a warm white of course (Cloud White from Benjamin Moore has long been my go-to), but I am still surprised to see how much warmer each space feels as I coat it completely in white.

Getting a few things up on the walls and adding a bit of decor always helps to make things feel more cozy and inviting too. As we were unpacking boxes after the move last month, we sort of just randomly placed things on the shelves in the study and tucked all of our art and photos into the front closet, but I vowed to myself that I would make an effort to decorate each space as I made my way through with my paint brush. Painting the walls was only half the battle – I know that filling each space with our art, photos and decor was what would really make this place feel like home for us. And, while I know it won’t be long before we’re back through all of these spaces with some more extensive renovations, it doesn’t mean we can’t make them fell cozy in the mean time. Views like these just make my heart so happy.
