Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Ours was a busy one around here – nothing too exciting really, just tackling all sorts of little jobs around the house.
Today, I’m so excited to kick off a new series here on the blog. It’s something I’ve been meaning to put together for months, but somehow never got around to. I’ve been working a gratitude practice into my daily routine for years now – sitting down with this little journal as I sip my coffee each morning has been an easy way to ensure I’m spending at least a few minutes thinking about some of the many things I am grateful for. Often it’s the simplest of things – my quiet morning coffee, something nice that someone did for me, a new book I am enjoying. It takes just a few minutes, but I love that no matter what the day brings, at least I am starting it off with happy thoughts.
I thought it might be fun to share some of these little gratitudes with you. While I could probably come up with a list a mile long, I realize nobody has time for that, so each month I’m planning to note just 5 Good Things – things I think you may be able to relate to or find joy from as well. I’d also love it if you could share a few of your own Good Things in the comments at the end of this post. After all, we all have so much to be grateful for – I hope that taking the time to think on a few of your own gratitudes will bring some joy to your day too.
5 Good Things
One: Celebrating 12 years of marriage with my one + only. There isn’t anybody else I’d rather journey through life with.

Two: Morning walks with Carson + Charley. I think we all love walking to the bus stop together each morning, although I may change my opinion on that as Winter rolls in.
Three: White walls. I’ve been working so hard to make this house feel like home for us and so far, I think the fresh white paint has made the biggest difference (at least for me). I love the way the oak trim and brass fixtures play off of the warm white paint – it all just feels so cozy.

Four: Our new smart door lock. I debated for weeks about which smart lock I should go with (you can find all of my favourites here), but in the end, I decided to keep it simple with this one (which just so happens to be the least expensive option of the bunch!). I love that it has built in wifi, so it can easily connect to our smart home system without having to use a special hub or extra app. Of course, it also has a keypad so that Carson can easily unlock it himself without the use of a phone or app too. We’ve been really happy with it so far!

Five: This vintage plaid blanket. For our anniversary, Brady and I took a break from the renovations and spent a weekend away in the city. We met up with my brother and his wife to tour all sorts of beautiful show homes, had a delicious dinner at a new-to-us restaurant (if you’re ever in Edmonton, I’d highly recommend Bistro Praha!) and finished it all off with a visit to my favourite antique store. I scored the prettiest wool blanket, which adds the perfect Fall touch to our front step, while Brady picked up a new record to add to his growing collection. I love that we both came home with a little souvenir from our weekend away!

We had so many wonderful moments throughout the month, but these were five that stood out for me. I’d love to hear some of your Good Things in the comments below!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
Hello. I live in Edmonton. What is your favourite antique store? I’m curious!
Hi Elizabeth! I love exploring all of the little shops around the city, but the one I always have to stop at is Strathcona Antique Mall. I always find something wonderful there!
