Fall is ever so slowly creeping its way in around here. The mornings have grown crisp & cool, the leaves are starting to turn and the forest trails behind our house have been blanketed in falling leaves. As the temperatures start to drop outside, I can’t help but embrace the chance to make things feel warm + cozy inside. This past week, I’ve started scattering some simple Fall decor elements around the house (think plaid patterns, rich colours and cozy textures) and it already has our home feeling so warm + inviting. It doesn’t take much, just a few simple pieces can go such a long way in helping a home to feel cozy all season long.
Simple Ways to Transition your Home for Fall
The three simple elements I try to play around with through each change is season are pattern, colour and texture. Through the warm Summer months, I’ll typically stick with lighter textures and brighter (though still muted) colours. But, as Fall rolls in, I tend to gravitate more towards darker, moodier colours, heavier textures and cozier Fall patterns + fabrics such as plaids, velvets and knits. Let me show you how I do that.

ONE: Pillows.
Swapping out a few pillow covers is one of the easiest ways to transition your home for any change in season. Throw pillows are a simple way to layer new patterns, colours and textures into a space, giving it a cozy, collected feel without overwhelming it. I shared a post a few weeks ago about how to mix + match different patterns with tons of beautiful suggestions for cozy Fall pillows, you can read more about that here if you missed it.

TWO: Throw Blankets.
Another easy way to layer in some cozy colours + textures for Fall is by introducing a throw blanket or two into the mix. Not only does it bring more colour or pattern into play, but who doesn’t love curling up with a cozy blanket on a cool, Fall evening?

THREE: Vases and Stems.
Displaying an earthy vase with a few Fall stems tucked inside is an easy way to bring some natural Fall elements into your home. I especially love that branches & stems can have such a large visual presence, making it an easy way to have a big impact on any space. Just in case you find yourself on the hunt for a new vase or some Fall stems, I’ve linked up a few that I’ve been eyeing up for you below.

FOUR: Fall Scented Candles.
There’s nothing like lighting a candle on a crisp Fall evening, especially when it fills your home up with all the cozy Fall scents. The one I’ve been burning the most lately is this one, which not only looks beautiful (especially sitting beside this pretty little candle care kit!), but fills our home with the most delicious, spicy Fall scents, but I’ve linked up a few other faves for you below.

FIVE: Pumpkins.
Sprinkle in a bit of colour and texture by adding a little faux pumpkin to a shelf or table. I love to vary the materials, colours and textures to bring in more of that collected feel, that always helps things to feel so cozy. I picked up these little felt pumpkins at a local shop (they ship throughout North America though!), but I’ve got a ton of others linked up. below that sitting in my online carts too. 😉
