Taking you on a tour of our simple + cozy farmhouse Christmas home all decked out for the holidays!
It’s time for another year of Canadian Blogger Christmas Home Tours! Each season, my friends Christina at The DIY Mommy and Shannon at Home Made Lovely pull together a lovely group of Canadian bloggers to share their home decor ideas for the season. Though they’re always full of beautiful inspiration, the Christmas tours in particular are always a favourite of mine. Each year, I look forward to seeing all of the different styles and finding all sorts of inspiration to pull into my own holiday decor, so be sure to visit the other talented Canadian bloggers sharing their Christmas home tours all through the week as well (you can find them all linked up at the bottom of this post).
This year we’ve really focused on keeping things simple through our holiday season. I feel like the holidays tend to take on a life of their own these days with countless commitments, endless to-do lists, and more gifts under the tree than ever before. It seems I’ve got more ideas about things I should be doing than time really and the holidays season seems to pass before we’ve even gotten a chance to really soak it in and enjoy it.
So this year, we’re running with the idea that less is more. Less gifts under the tree leaves us with more to give to others that are in need. Less on the to-do list leaves us with more time to enjoy the season with our family and friends. Less decor around the house leaves us space to truly enjoy the pieces we love most. Less extravagant expectations leaves us with more room to take pleasure in the simple things.
This year’s home tours have been a reflection of that. Our bedroom feels so cozy and restful without too much clutter.
Our porch, though quite simple, always puts a smile on my face when I pull up to the house.
And I cannot wait for you to see our cozy Christmas tablescape later this week!
But today, I’m so excited to share our simple + cozy farmhouse style kitchen and living room spaces all decked out for the holidays!
Obviously, it all started with the tree. This is the only part of our decorating that the whole family takes part in. Carson loves to hang as many of the ornaments as he can and Brady and I spend most of our time encouraging him to hang a few higher than the bottom two rows of branches. Then mom’s in charge of garland and ribbon before the boys take over the snowflake topper. I just love how cozy the chunky knit textures feel and I think they pair so perfectly with the vintage style glass ornaments.
I stretched the greenery and lights across the mantel as well with this beautiful lit garland. Though I usually work with real greens in my decor, I decided to skip the mess this year and splurge for a really good quality faux version that I can use and re-use for years to come. I loved it so much I actually ordered a couple more for my stair railing and porch as well. The lights look so warm and with the candles lit across the mantel, it feels cozier than ever.
A few more candles and a ton of cozy textures were the only other additions to this space.
I carried the candles into the kitchen as well, along with a few more mercury glass pieces to continue with the vintage feel.
A simple wreath hanging over the range hood brings a perfect little touch of greenery to our kitchen.
And a chunky knit table runner in the dining area keeps things feeling cozy in here too.
I carried a touch of cozy Christmas into our mudroom + laundry space as well, though definitely kept it simple here too.
And if you look closely, you might even catch a glimpse at the family room space I’ll be sharing next week…
I just love how warm + cozy everything feels all lit up for the holidays!

Happy Holidays, Kristi. Well, your home looks gorgeous, beautifully and delicately decorated for the holidays. I have to admit to some unexpected laundry room envy. I can’t imagine how you could improve on what you have done there. All in all, your Christmas home is breathtaking. It’s like taking a stroll through quiet, snowy woodlands, breathing in the fresh and crisp air. Cheers, Ardith
