Day Ten of The 12 Posts of Christmas
I couldn’t possibly have been more honored when the beautiful and talented Erin from DIY Passion invited me to be a part of this super fun Christmas blog hop! We’ve all joined forces to bring y’all 12 fabulous Christmas posts chalk full of holiday inspiration! Even better, each project cost less than $24 to make because who wants to spending all of their hard earned holiday cash on crafting?!
For the 10th day of Christmas I’ll be sharing this Pallet Wood Christmas Card Tree!
Easy and inexpensive, what more could you ask for?!
I started by putting hubs to work cutting up a pallet for me and turning it into a Christmas tree. Easy-peasy, right?! Ha! I’m thinking one of us found this part easier than the other. All joking aside, it was pretty simple – cutting the boards at 45 degrees on each end, stacking them all to make a tree and then nailing some spare boards into the back to hold it all together. Here’s what we ended up with:
Not too shabby considering I gave him pretty much no guidance aside from “build me a Christmas tree with that old pallet in the garage – PLEASE!”
Now came the hard part (I kid!). I strung some jingle bells onto a string of twine, tying a knot around each one to keep it in place. I was pretty random with the placement, but I think it just adds to the rustic look. Then, I nailed a few random nails near the ends of some of the boards to string my new garland onto.
You could totally leave this as is and park it by your fireplace or in your entryway. BUT, in one of those rare, light-blub-moments, I thought it would give me a perfect way to display the beautiful Christmas cards that have started to roll in!
I may have sneaked (okay, I had to look this one up and apparently “snuck” is not a word – I know, I couldn’t believe it either! So “sneaked” it is! And yes, I’m aware that I just added multiple sentences in brackets, inside of yet another sentence) one of our own in there too! They’re pretty darn cute … can you blame me really?!
I’m SO, SO thrilled with how this came out! I think it looks perfect leaning up alongside our fireplace!
I’m pretty smitten with the rustic look of these hammered finish jingle bells!
Now, as I mentioned earlier, this is only one of 12 fabulous Christmas crafts being shared through the first 12 days of December. Be sure to hop around to see what my talented bloggy friends have been up to too!!!

This is so adorable. I love your “guidelines” for your husband, haha. Sounds EXACTLY like the guidelines I give to mine. I think what I love so much about this is that you can just put it up against the wall. I love that it can be stored away as well. I’ve always been hesitant about making something that has to be mounted on the wall to display Christmas cards (they’re cute, but not what I really want to do in my own home). I love the idea of setting something like this in a foyer or near a coat wrack – such a cheery thing to see when you first walk in the door!
Kristi says
Thank you SO much Christina! I’m thrilled that you love it! I know just what you mean – I’ve never been able to bring myself to hang something on my wall either! Originally I had made this to sit out on our front porch, but once I added that jingle bell garland, I knew it would make the perfect Christmas card display! Wishing you SUCH a Merry Christmas!
