This vintage painted ladder is SO full of charm and, whether it becomes a plant stand, night table or blanket ladder, there are truly so, so many ways to put it to work!
Welcome to another #MonthlyDIYChallenge my friends! Y’all know how much fun I have teaming up with my talented bloggy friends the first Wednesday of each month to see the different ideas we can come up with from the very same starting point!
This month we’re teaming up with the wonderful folks at FAT Paint Company to share all sorts of {chalk paint inspiration} and I cannot wait to see what everyone came up with! And even better friends, we’ll be giving away some Fat Paint to one lucky reader, so be sure to enter at the end of this post for your chance to win!
But first, I’ll be sharing this charming painted vintage ladder…
It’s no secret that some of my very favourite things to decorate with are antiques…
With all those years behind them, they always have a story to tell.
Though we may not know what that story is, those years of life leave their mark.
And those marks, are the sort of charm and character that make a room feel inviting, lived in and loved.
This old ladder has been moving around our home for ages now. It’s been a plant stand, a stocking hanger and a holder of blankets and books.
And clocks apparently too.
And as pretty as it was all splattered with paint, I’ve been thinking about painting it out with something soft, yet bold for quite some time.
And so, when we got this chance to team up with the FAT Paint Company, I knew exactly what I wanted to do…
And, though I had the hardest time in the world deciding on the perfect colour (I waffled between pink, blue & green for days!), I couldn’t possibly be happier with how it turned out!
{VERDIGRIS} turned out to be the most perfectly soft green with a lovely vintage vibe.
And friends, this paint glides on like a dream and I was left with incredible coverage after just one coat!
I made an effort to be light-handed with my brush so that some of that gorgeous wood could still show through…
And then, after a light sanding, I finished it all with a quick coat of natural FAT wax, using a cloth to wipe on and rub in the soft wax all over that ladder.
I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with this charming ladder all painted out in the most beautiful green!
No matter how I choose to put it to work, this vintage painted ladder will be the perfect addition to any space in our home!
But for now, I think it looks pretty darn sweet hanging out here in my farmhouse style office space…
