Because things aren’t always as picture perfect as they might look, I’m taking you on a REAL home tour, 2 years into renovating of our first fixer-upper…
It’s been two years since we moved back to our little home town in northern Alberta. Two years since we decided to take on our first fixer-upper.
And, though we’ve come such a long way…
We’ve still got a loooooong way to go.
I love sharing our progress with you all and, let’s be honest, sharing those beautifully styled photos of newly renovated spaces is pretty easy to enjoy.
It’s the not so pretty photos of the not so pretty spaces that I’m not so fond of sharing.
But, because I don’t want pretend that we live in this perfectly dreamy house, because I want to connect with everyone that takes the time to follow along with our journey, I’ve been working hard to share a lot more of our real lives on the blog.
And so, today I’m sharing a tour of our first fixer-upper, giving you a chance to see how far we’ve come and how very far we’ve still got left to go…
Find links to all of the projects and room reveals shown in the video in my Project Gallery!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
Hi Kristi. Thank you for share this little video tour. I know you think there’s still a lot to do, but I find very inspiring this step by step renovation, shows me 1) that everything is possible with dedication and effort, and 2) for everything it’s necessary to have patience. Two things that I often forget and I sometimes despair when I see that my house is not exactly as I would want it. I swear I don’t remember how I found your blog like a year ago, but I do know that I follow you because I like a lot, more than the renovations of your house, your dedication, effort and patience that inspires me.
Congratulations on your new youtube channel.
Regards.
Thank you so, so much Mar! Your kind words just made my day! You’re absolutely right, renovating takes a ton of patience and I’m so happy you enjoy following along as we muddle through it all! Thanks again!
Love the real life home tour! Your “done” rooms are SO pretty but it’s nice to see the not so perfect rooms, too. I can’t wait to see Carson’s play room!
Thanks Sarah! It’s nice to look back to see how far we’ve come, but it’s definitely daunting to see how far we’ve still got to go!
WOW Kristi, your home is so gorgeous, you have made it truly home. Everything I saw wanted to stop video to get better look. You two have worked so hard and sure looks like it was all worth it. My favorite room is still your bathroom. There wasn’t a thing in any room I didn’t love and wish we could do. Your home is lovely and is so warm and welcoming. Great job you two.
Enjoy it now, have great week
You are always so, so sweet! Thank you so very much for your kind words! Wishing you a wonderful week as well my friend!
Love that you keep it real, Kristi! Our home is a work in progress too! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Kendra! It’s so easy to share the finished spaces, not so easy to share all that work in progress! 😉
Kristi, I love everything that you do in your home. I’ve followed you on Instagram for a while now and am a big fan. Keep up the great work! Have a great rest of your week.
Thank you so, so much for your super sweet words! I’m SO happy you enjoy following along! Wishing you a wonderful week as well!
I loved your tour! What you’ve done so far is gorgeous and I know the rest will follow soon!
Thank you so, so much Christy! Slowly but surely as they say, right?! 😉
It’s so funny. We’re actually celebrating our 2 years in our house as of tomorrow, so we must have moved at the same time! You are SO much further along on your renovations, but to be honest I think we started with a much rougher fixer The amount of work that comes with renovating is so draining sometimes, but it is always so rewarding to look back and realize how far you’ve come! Congrats on all of your progress so far and I can’t wait to see what you guys do next!
How cool! Yes, renovating is absolutely exhausting and I find myself wishing we could just get every little thing finished all at once – I find it a difficult journey to enjoy, but seeing our progress is a great reminder of how far we’ve really come! Thanks so much Chelsea! Here’s to more incredible progress for us both my friend!
Your house is so beautiful! A lot more charm than before! Thanks for sharing #HomeMattersParty
Thank you so, so much Natalie!
I have only just come across your home tour- I have a lot of unread e mails! Your house is absolutely fabulous. You have such amazing accessorises- skis ,gates on walls , lovely signs etc. It’s a visual feast. I love it all & can’t believe how much you have done in such a small space of time.
I feel bad now about moaning about ads on your video on a later post now!
Awwww, no worries at all! It’s a delicate balance between running ads to help pay for my work, while not wanting to overwhelm my site with them – I definitely appreciate the feedback. And thank you so, so much for your kind words! It can be easy to forget just how far we’ve come, it’s always nice to stop and take stock of things. Thanks again Shirley!
