Okay.
Seriously.
How can it possibly be SEPTEMBER already!?!
Somehow Summer flew right by and Fall is on our doorstep. Though we had a wonderfully busy Summer, I’ve gotta say, I’m definitely ready for these cool, crisp mornings, beautiful colours spreading through the trees and leaves scattered all over the trails. And, I cannot wait to dig out my leggings, sweaters, boots and scarves!
In fact, I came home from an early morning run last weekend (did I mention I’m training for my second 1/2 marathon?) to a crackling, warm fire in our fireplace (you may have noticed my excitement on Instagram) while my boys were spread out on the floor building all sorts of fun things with hubby’s Lego. It totally melted my heart! At three, we hadn’t really thought about pulling out the Lego yet, until Carson discovered a love for it while visiting my Father-in-law last weekend. Hubs came straight home and drug out everything he had and they’ve both been obsessed with it ever since. Though I have to say, we spend most of our time fixing things that inevitably break off while C’s three year old hands are playing with it 😉
We may have been gone for much of this month, but I did manage to share a few posts that had me really excited!
I was so happy (and relieved) that my DIY Trumeau Mirror ended up looking even better with a bit of Antiquing Powder to add a bit of old world charm!
I managed to knock out a few projects that I’m pretty darn proud of too like this pretty DIY Barn Wood Jewelry Hanger.
And The Most Perfect Apple Sangria for Fall.
And now, here’s a quick update of where I am currently …

Reading: I just finished up We Are Not Ourselves, which was a pretty heavy read, but absolutely amazing. I’m just about to crack open Hausfrau – anyone read it?
Writing: Now that school is over Summer is over (seriously though, where has the time gone?) and I’ve actually got some time to work on the blog a bit, I’m hoping to put together a few special things for my newsletter subscribers! Watch your inboxes friends!
Watching: I’ve just discovered The Mindy Project, have you heard of it? Hubs and I watched the first two seasons over the last couple of weeks and we’re absolutely hooked! Just downloaded Season Three on iTunes yesterday and can’t wait to catch up!
Listening to: Brady and I are back to being obsessed with The Rural Alberta Advantage. Their tunes are so laid back & catchy and it’s so fun to hear songs about places we actually know!
Needing: Some new boots and a cozy blanket scarf for Fall.
Creating: Hubs and I have had to put our porch plans on hold – with our crazy Summer schedule, we just couldn’t find the time to take another new project on. Fortunately, we’ve got something else up our sleeves … we’ve actually teamed up with a fantastic designer to take on our biggest project yet and I absolutely cannot wait to spill the beans!!!
Learning: How tidying up my home can set me up for success in all areas of my life (I knew it!). Hoping to start a series with a few of my fave bloggy friends chatting about our own journey to tidy our homes (and change our lives!).
Planning: There are SO many things running through my head lately … top secret reno projects (that’s right, more than one if you can believe it!), The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, and gearing up for Carson’s first day of preschool!
Loving: Training for my second 1/2 Marathon! There’s nothing better than an early morning run to start my day off right and it’s so invigorating seeing the progress I make as the weeks pass by!
Dreaming about: The cool, crisp air has me dreaming of all things Fall!
Wearing: Leggings and sweaters … my absolute fave!
Coveting: I’m absolutely dying to grab this gorgeous Lulu jacket!!!
Working for me right now: Running. I forget how amazing it feels to push myself like that and nothing clears my head more than getting out on the trails.
What’s not: Between our busy crazy Summer schedule (have I mentioned that we only just enjoyed our first weekend at home in almost three months?!), 1/2 marathon training, back to school chaos, blogging, renovation planning and of course, real life – I’m having a very hard time balancing it all. Perhaps I need to get to a yoga class.
Anticipating: Life slowing down a bit as Fall rolls it’s way in. Ahhhhhhhh.
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?

Now please excuse me while I curl up in front of the fire with my morning coffee…
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!

Woo! Way to go on training for another 1/2 marathon! I don’t think that is something I will ever be interested in haha. Sounds like you guys have been crazy busy! Can’t wait to hear about these secret projects 😉
Awww, thanks friend! I definitely love a challenge! And I am absolutely DYING to share!!!
Sounds like a great but busy summer! I love running as well although I’m no where near any 1/2 marrathons! Sure does clear your head! Hope your little man eases into his preschool schedule well! And such fun to pull out the Legos… our collection huge as the kids love it so much!
I’ve missed you friend! Hope you enjoyed your Summer as well and that you all are having an easy time getting back in the swing of things with back to school!
The Mindy Project = Amazing.
And girl, my 3 year old carson has loved Legos since he was 18 months! Go get him some of the cool sets with the animals and things. It’s something we play with every single week.
Thanks Corinna! Isn’t it an awesome show? SO funny!!! I will definitely have to do some hunting for sets with animals!!!
Busy busy, Summer just ripped by. Mindy Project is the best, love Mindy Kaling, you should follow her on instagram, she has serious style. And, that jacket is awesome, I’ve now added it to my list, haha. Enjoy your Fall — my favourite time of year. 😉
Thanks SO much Jen! I will definitely add her on Insta! I’ve totally got a girl crush on her 😉 Wishing you a wonderful Fall too friend! It really is the best!
