Hello my friends!
As y’all know (because of my incessant complaining perhaps), I spent the first half of this month knee deep in boxes. Unpacking our lives after the big cross-province move was a BIG job, bigger than I remember it being. Let me tell you, this wasn’t my first rodeo. In fact, we’ve moved 4.5 times (that .5 is a long story that nobody needs to hear right now) in the last 5 years. And what have I learned through all of those moves? I’ve discovered that moving is like an awful, nasty cold: it is ALWAYS so much worse than you remember it being, it’s never conveniently timed and of course it’s enormously draining. To be honest, I can’t really think of anything else I hate more.
BUT…
The good news is that the boxes are empty, the house is now functional and we’ve officially been homeowners in the (not as little as we remember it being) town we grew up in for exactly one month! It’s been SO wonderful coming “home”. Our friends and family have welcomed us with open arms and loving hearts! We feel SO very lucky that our family is surrounded by so much love!
Here’s a quick update of where I am currently …
Reading: *All the Light We Cannot See: A Novel
Writing: Aside from my very first “currently” post, I’m working on a house tour of our new home.
Watching: Hubs and I are pretty excited to FINALLY be watching the new season of House of Cards on Netflix!
Listening to: I’m about to show you just how behind the times I am, but I’m absolutely loving Timber by Pitbull right now. When I hear it come on during my runs, it gives me such an energy burst! Around the house, I’ve got Rural Alberta Advantage playing in the background pretty much all day long. Brady and I are absolutely obsessed with their music!
Needing: A haircut. Like, yesterday.
Creating: We’ve started to makeover the very first room in our new home and let me tell you, there isn’t a single thing aside from drywall remaining!
Learning: How to pick my battles with the crazy two year old that lives with us. When did he discover a mind of his own?!
Planning: I’ve got ideas running through my head for each and every room in this house. Not sure yet which room will be next on our list.
Loving: This warm and sunny weather we’ve been enjoying these last few weeks! A rare occurrence for sure this early in the year! It’s definitely got me dreaming of Spring!
Dreaming about: Warm Summer days! And maybe a kitchen reno.
Wearing: My go-to outfit right now is a comfy jean shirt-dress with some stretchy leggings! Anybody else hope leggings never go out of style!
Coveting: I’ve been dying to have some of these gorgeous Portmeirion Sophie Conran Dishes in *white or *blue
.
Working for me right now: I’ve been working very hard to make time for myself – a challenge for every Mommy I’m sure, but SO important. With four visits to the gym a week, and three or four runs on top of that, I’m feeling pretty great lately! Heck, maybe I’ll even find the time and energy to run another 1/2 marathon this year!!!
What’s not: I’m the type of gal that wants everything done yesterday. When I finally figure out what I want, I can’t rest until I see it realized. You can see how this might be a problem sometimes (re: renovating an entire house). Clearly, I need to learn to relax a little.
Anticipating: A ski trip to Jasper, AB with our best friends next weekend!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week to come!

Thank you SO much Havok!!! Have a great week!
I can’t wait to see the house tour. I’m also excited about the new House Of Cards season.
I cannot wait to share it Leslie! And we’re only two episodes into this new season, but it’s already as awesome as I remember!!!
I know you are feeling good with boxes unpacked! What a chore! So glad you are close to family and friends again, bet they are enjoying the little ones. Can’t wait to see the tour. Have a great week!
Thanks SO much Peggy! It’s been pretty great being so close to everyone again!!! Wishing you a wonderful week as well!
I love this idea! Can’t wait to read these posts! A ski trip sounds so fun, but I’m totally over winter right now and am in dire need of some sun and warm weather ๐ Excited to see what you’re up to in that new house of yours!
Thanks SO much Bre! I am so, so ready for Spring too, but might as well make the best of the snow that’s still sticking around ๐ Have a fab week girl!
Fu to catch up on your life, Kristi! ๐ And glad you’re settling in… I can only imagine how Hapoy your family and friends are! Can’t wait to see the house tour ๐
Thanks SO much Kendra!!! xo
Ah, I hear ya, it’s so hard to make time for yourself with a toddler around!! But good for you to get back into running and the gym!! I’m working on it….slowly… ๐ And even if leggings go out of style again, I’m STILL wearing them!! ๐
Hahaha! Yes, leggings will always have a place in my closet too Amanda ๐
I am so down for leggings to always be “in.” I always love reading currently posts; they’re a great peak into a blogger’s life. I have the same planner that you have in your picture..too cool!
Thank you SO much Mary!!! I thought it was SUCH a fun idea, I couldn’t resist! And I’m in LOVE with that planner! SUCH a lifesaver!!! Have a fab week girl!
It’s SO hard to move into a new house and want everything done already. I’m so there with you (even though we’re 5 months into the new place). I think we’re just now coming to the realization that people are good. And we need to spend more time with people (as opposed just working on the house all the time). Heehee! Took 5 months but I think we’re finally ready to, like, LEAVE the house and socialize. As hard as it is, just try and pace yourself. I know it’s easier said than done, though. Maybe we should form a little support group. Haha! ๐
I am in desperate need of a support group … BRILLIANT! I am in absolute awe of everything you’ve accomplished in the short time you’ve been there Christina! I would be thrilled to change even half of what you’ve been able to! Though, I like people too, so I might just have to make my peace with a slower timeline ๐
I use to love doing these back in MySpace days! I hope you get a chance to enjoy the new home soon. Unpacking boxes is no fun!
Awwww, thank you SO much Corinna! It was definitely a fun post to write!
Hi, found you through a linky party.
You sound overwhelmed but happy. And…I am so with you about the haircut – I need one too. :))
Awww, thank you! I’m hoping I’m just on the tail end of “overwhelmed” and happy I’m not alone with my hair neglect – Mommies are always last on the list, aren’t they?! Happy Friday!
Yes, we are. ๐ Happy Friday, too.
I am also reading All the Light We Cannot See. Gripping!!
Isn’t it?! I’m definitely hooked!!!
I love the idea of this Currently series! Such a fun way to keepup with and get to know you better, virtual friend! ๐
Thanks Angela! I came across it a while ago and couldn’t resist joining in the fun!
