Our not-so-little man is now FOUR YEARS OLD (how can it be?)! So far we’ve celebrated his birthdays as we do our own, keeping things small and intimate with our closest family and friends. And of course, a bit of cake. Buuuuut, this year C asked for his very own “real birthday party” with his friends from school, a dinosaur cake and lots and lots of swimming … and really, how could I say no to that?
So, here’s how I organized a very special Dinosaur Themed Birthday Party for our not-so-little man:
Having never really planned a real birthday party before, I wasn’t really sure where to start. I suppose I knew I needed to get our venue booked, but with that out of the way, I was feeling a bit stuck.
I really wanted this to be a special day, but to be honest, with our One Room Challenge underway, my brother’s wedding coming up and a trip to Mexico to look forward to the day after that, I didn’t have a ton of time to devote to planning this thing. Honestly, I was feeling overwhelmed by the whole thing before I’d even started.
And then I came across this sweet little party pack at Minted and I couldn’t resist ordering it up along with some super cute dino invitations to match.
And with that, somehow, it all just fell into place from there.
We started by sending out these custom invitations. Carson was SO in love with the dinosaur design and couldn’t wait to help me stuff them into the sweet little lined envelopes and get them off to his friends. And I have to say, all of the mommies were really impressed with the incredible quality and attention to detail.
Minted also sent along EVERYTHING else we needed to set up a super fun party space. From plates, cups and straws to gorgeous custom decorations, we had all of our bases covered (and then some!). I’d been dreading planning out all of these little details, but I know that it’s the little things that really make his day special. I couldn’t believe how simple it was to have it sent right to our door all from the same place, in one neat little package!
We had it all set up in a jiffy and were ready to party in style after some fun and games in the swimming pool.
C and I had a blast baking and decorating his dino-themed cookies, cupcakes and cake the day before the party. He absolutely LOVES baking and I was so happy we could share these sweet moments together in honour of his special day.
We tucked a few extra cookies into some small treat bags to hand out with our sticker books as party favours for all of our special guests.
SUCH a big thank you to Minted for supplying all of these incredible decorations and making it so darn easy for this busy Mama to plan SUCH a special dinosaur themed birthday party for our little man!
I’m telling you friends, Minted makes it so easy to look after each and every little detail with style! There are SO many themes and decor items to choose from (they’ve even got grown up themes too)! You’re sure to find EVERYTHING you need to make planning the perfect party as easy as can be!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!

Incredibly awesome party for a special birthday man, you and Minted rocked this one, Kristi. Cheers, Ardith
Thank you so, so much Ardith! It was such a special day!!!
The pack certainly provided or inspired everything you needed. I’m sure your son enjoyed it all. He may want a pool party every year. Very nice!
Thanks so much Jewell! It was such a weight off to not have to figure it all out on our own. 😉 And we all had such a blast!
Such a darling party! My son would love this theme still! So sweet you baked the cupcakes with Carson… all about making memories xox
Awwww, thanks Kendra! He LOVED helping to bake everything almost as much as eating it! 😉
Cute party you put together here! Stopping by to let you know you are being featured on Friday’s P3 Party post! Have a great week! Thanks for pinning!
