You won’t believe how quick and easy these sweet little fabric pumpkins were to make!
Hello! Welcome back to another round up of beautiful decorating ideas that you can whip up in just 10 minutes or less!
Y’all, I’m seriously SO excited about this series! I mean honestly, who doesn’t have 10 minutes to spare?
On the first Wednesday of each month, I’ll be teaming up with an amazing group of bloggers to bring you all sorts of inspiration that you’re sure to love. This month’s theme was Thanksgiving and I cannot wait to see what everyone came up with!
We actually celebrated Thanksgiving a few weeks ago here in Canada, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t whip up a super cute project to share with y’all today. These lovely little {fabric pumpkins} are not only quick to make, but will last you all season long!
I started with a round piece of scrap fabric – the size depended on the size I wanted my pumpkin to be, but I think my largest was around 12 inches across.
After threading a needle, leaving the thread two layers thick, and knotting the ends together, I simply started running it through my fabric every inch or so, all the way around my circle.
Then, pulling the thread tight, I cinched my circle until it was nearly closed and, after adding a bit of stuffing inside, I pulled again until the top hole was closed completely.
With the thread pulled tight, I added several stitches from one side of the top to the other, criss-crossing all of the edges and finally, tying it off.
Now, I was left with something resembling a big ball. To turn it into a pumpkin, I used a length of twine threaded onto a long upholstery needle (any sort of large needle will do) to create sections all the way around. Starting from the top, I fished the needle right through the middle of pumpkin to the bottom and, pulling it nearly all the way through, knotted it back to the twine at the top of the pumpkin. This created the first line to section off my pumpkin. Then, I simply continued all the way around, looping it around my pumpkin (alternating entering my fabric through the top or bottom), until I had created six or seven evenly spaced lines around my pumpkin and simply tying it off when done.
The very last step was attaching a small stick to the top with a dab of hot glue to make a stem.
And that’s it my friends! This was such a quick little project, it took me less than 20 minutes to whip up all three of these sweet little pumpkins!
Now, I cannot wait to see what everyone else came up with for this month’s 10 Minute Decorating!
