Well my friends, here it is – the first Weekend Reading post of 2021. It’s taken me a bit longer than usual to get back into the swing of things after the holidays this year (I blame our week of online schooling last week!), but I think we’re finally hitting our groove around here this week. How about you? Are you a little slow to get back into the swing of things after a holiday, or do you look forward to jumping back into the normal routines of everyday life?
I spent most of my week trying to catch up with my distance teaching (did you know I was teaching some classes through distance learning?), so we didn’t accomplish much in terms of projects around the house this week, but we did have a lot of fun coming up with a list of projects we’d like to tackle through the year ahead. I can’t wait to share them with you next week!
ON THE BLOG THIS WEEK
I caught you up with all things CURRENTLY, including our basement progress and the room that’s next on our renovation list.
I also shared a look back at all of the projects we took on in 2020.
And now, here’s what I’ll be catching up with this weekend…
weekend reading
Home trend predictions have been flooding the internet these past few weeks and, though I’ve never really been a “trendy” decorator, I absolutely love looking through everyone’s predictions about where interior design might go through the year ahead. I especially enjoyed this take on what’s in and what’s out for 2021 (though I don’t know how I feel about her take on open floor plans).
I’m totally on board with every single on of these design predictions for the year ahead (if only just because it’s where I see our own home heading in the years to come).
Here’s a great explanation as to how & why these new (old) design details are making a comeback.
I really enjoyed listening to this take on character vs. personality. This distinction wasn’t really something I’d thought about before. PS. This podcast is my favourite thing to listen to while we’re working on home projects!
I can’t believe the transformation this home went through! Each and every room (including the exterior) looks like a brand new space (but with the charm of an old home)! You need to see this entire before + after tour!
I thought this idea to convert a kitchen desk space into something far more functional was absolutely brilliant!
In light of this brand new year ahead of us and the many goals we’re likely setting for it, I found this article about how to form a new habit really enlightening!
The Insta-feed I just can’t get enough of this week…
And finally, here’s what’s on my nightstand this week (I found a ton of new titles to add to my reading list here in case you find yourself on the hunt for some book recommendations too).
Wishing you the most lovely weekend!
