A quick little catch up and my favourite reads from the week.

Happy Friday friends!!! I hope you had a wonderful week! It’s been a while since I’ve paused to check in for a Weekend Reading post – we were out of our regular routines around here these past couple of weeks with a family trip to BC and then Spring break. We decided to make the most of that time off together, really soaking up the extra time & adventure together as a family. While we enjoyed lots of down time relaxing and recharging, we also went on quite the adventure traveling to Rossland, BC. The cutest little ski town, Rossland was not only where Making it in the Mountains was born, but where Carson spent the first three years of his life too! It’s a looooong drive from where we live no in Northern Alberta (13 hours to be exact), so we hadn’t been back to visit since we moved away more than 8 years ago. It was every bit as wonderful as we remembered though. It was so neat to get to show Carson around the first place he ever walked, biked, & skied – he recognized all sorts of things from photos he’d seen over the years. The boys got in some epic ski days, we drove by our old house, and best of all, we caught up with friends that were family to us. It was such a special trip for us all!
With all that fun and adventure, we haven’t really had much time to work on any house projects, though Brady did manage to finish swapping out all of our old light switches for these smart switches, which has been a total game changer for us. Seriously, I can’t even describe how awesome these little switches are!
After that much needed break, I think we’re all feeling more ready than ever to start working our way through all of the ideas that have been swirling around our heads these past few months. I’ve got so many fun projects planned, I cannot wait to share them with you!!!
On the blog lately…

Honouring the History of this Old Desk

I also shared my first video on YouTube in ages! I’d love for you to check it out too (even though it might be old news to most of you). I’m hoping to keep a video journal of our renos over on YouTube, so if you’d like to follow along with that, be sure to subscribe to my channel here!
And now, here are my favourite reads from the week…
My favourite reads from the week…

This DIY wood shelf with gallery rail turned out SO beautifully!
These little cabinet curtains are so darn cute.
Brown paint is having a moment right now (and y’all know how much I’ve been loving it in our study!). If you’re looking for some dark brown colour inspo, here’s a great place to start (our study colour is at the top of the list!).
Dusty blue is another wish-list paint colour I’ve been crushing on lately too!
Thinking some of these10 affordable ways to add charm to your kitchen could tide us over until we’re ready for the full reno.
Here’s the book I’ve been curling up with this week.
And finally, the Insta account I can’t stop scrolling lately.

Wishing you the most lovely weekend! Let me know if you have any fun plans in the comments below!
