Well my friends, it’s official … the keys are in our hands and we couldn’t be more excited to finally be moving into our new home!
*I have to say that the dirty snow and cloudy skies didn’t make for the prettiest pictures, but you get the idea.*
This is BIG for us. Not only are we moving back to our home town in northern Alberta, but this is the very first home that we’ve owned (or lived in really) that isn’t brand spankin’ new. I’ll save the long winded explanation behind it all for another day, but I will say that we are incredibly excited to embark on this journey! We love SO much about this house and, with a giant yard, tons of charm and plenty of room to grow, it’s really quite perfect for us. For all the things we love about this house, we’ve also got MANY, MANY changes in mind for each and every room. We actually thought about just renovating the whole house in one fell swoop, but when we were having a hard time figuring what exactly we’d like to do, we decided to live in it all for a while to come up with a game plan that we can be more sure about.
I’m hoping to share a complete house tour next week but, for now, here’s an itsy-bitsy peek at our new home …
The one thing we have decided to do before moving in is change/ add some new carpeting. The four guest rooms upstairs currently have vinyl flooring, which just isn’t cozy enough for me, so we’re warming them up with some new carpet. And, since the installers will be there already (and let’s face it, we couldn’t really have two different carpets happening) we figured we’d update the carpet in the hallway and on the stairs at the same time.
If I’m being truthful, Brady and I would hands down win the award for the MOST indecisive people EVER! So, you can imagine how choosing the perfect carpet to go with was a monumental task for us – between styles, prices, colours, ect., it was all a bit lot overwhelming. Obviously this is something we’re going to have to work through with a whole house to renovate! But, I have to say, I’m really happy with the carpet we chose and I’m pretty excited to see how it looks when it’s all in!!!
We are exploding with ideas and dreams for our new home. When I walk through it, all I can see are the beautiful possibilities! There’s no doubt this renovation journey will be a long one, but we couldn’t be more excited to have the chance to design a space that will work perfectly for our family!
Just a few more sleeps until the movers fill it up with our things, though, as you can see, Carson’s already making himself at home …
Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Facebook for a look into our big move and of course, more shots of our new home!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!
I cannot WAIT to see what you do with your new place! I already love the color of your siding. So excited for you in this new chapter. Just keep swimming. 😉
Thank you SO much Lauren! I really love the colour of our siding too – lucky because the old owners just painted it! I know it’s going to be one heck of an adventure! Have a fab week Lauren!
Oh Kristi, I am sooo excited to see these first glimpses! I love it and can’t wait to see all you have planned! And just for the record, I’d be great competition for the most indecisive person ever! Lol Have a wonderful day!
What a tease!! I love it so far and can’t wait to see more! I know you guys will make it look AMAZING!
Congratulations. I hope your family makes many happy memories there!
Thank you SO, SO much Sandy!!!
How exciting!! Our second home (we now live in number 4) was almost exactly this house!! Very very similar style – it is really cute from the outside and I can’t wait to see more of the inside! New houses are so fun!!
Good luck with your move Kristi. The weather seems to be cooperating for you too!
Thanks Marie! I cannot believe this weather! How lucky that it’s been so warm while all of our things have been sitting in storage!
Eeee!! I sooo can’t wait to see what y’all do with it! I dream of owning an older home where I’ll have projects galore 🙂
Thanks Emily! We never thought we would buy an older home in a million, zillion years, but this one’s felt “right” from the very beginning! Cannot wait to transform it!!!
Congratulations! What a wonderful “new” home for your family. That big old front porch will look lovely with your touches. Can’t wait to see what you do. Enjoy the journey!
Thank you SO much Peggy!!! I’m SO excited about the possibilities!
Congratulations!! It looks fantastic already! I can’t wait to see what you end up doing with it! It’s great to have something so fabulous to start with – while it may not be bright and shiny new, it’s got (what appears to be) a great enough backbone/structure/starting point to build upon!
Thanks SO much Havok! That’s exactly how we feel about it too! We’re SO excited to have found SUCH a perfect home for us and can’t wait to make it our own!
What a cute little house! I’m so excited to see how you transform it! Happy moving!
Thanks SO much Bre! Cannot wait to get started!!!
SO exciting!! It has so much charm already. Can’t wait to follow along and see all that you do to it! We are totally indecisive too. Like, terribly. Or at least I am. 😉 Hope everything goes smoothly with the carpet and the move-in!
Thank you SO much Amanda! Carpet looks fantastic and we are even more excited now to get to work on everything else!
That fireplace is fantastic! Can’t wait to see everything!!

Thank you SO much my friend! We cannot wait to get started on everything!!!
This house looks great. Four bedrooms upstairs, it sounds like a big house. I love the exterior color, so fun and bright, also that porch light is wonderful. Good luck with the move and deciding on things. I agree that living in the home before making any big decisions is always a great idea.
Thanks so much my friend! It’s definitely a big house … it actually has 5 bedrooms upstairs (the master has hardwood, so we didn’t lay carpet in it). We’re SO excited about the possibilities and cannot wait to get started on things!!!
Kristi, this is so exciting! You are going to have so much fun making it just perfect and I am going to have fun following along! Congratulations on your beautiful house!
