If you’re on the hunt for the perfect black paint colours, look no further. I’m sharing our favourite tried & true black paint colours that are sure to work perfectly for your next painting project.

It’s no secret that I love a touch of black around our home. When you need to bring a modern touch to a room, add contrast, or just feel like your space is missing something that you can’t quite put your finger on, I swear, nine times out of ten, the answer is often a pop of black.
Black can feel like a bold choice, but it’s actually a pretty classic element when you really stop to think about it. I’d say it’s all in the way you choose to use it in your space that can lean a little more traditional or modern.
In our old home for instance the pops of black I added with the dresser in our primary bedroom, the lamp & rug in our entryway or even the doorknobs throughout our home, brought a fairly traditional feel to each of those spaces.

In contrast, I’ve been adding all sorts of more modern black touches to our new/old tudor with furniture, lighting and decor, which has really helped to balance out the dated feel around here. Probably the biggest impact has been painting out the doors around our main floor and the living room built-ins with a bold, yet soft black paint. It took me far more tries than I’d like to admit to find the perfect black paint colour – one that reads as black, but with a softness and warmth to it. You can read more about that journey here if you’re curios – in the end, I landed on Black Beauty from Benjamin Moore and it really has been the perfect choice. I especially love the way it plays off of our warm white walls (Cloud White from Benjamin Moore) and really balances out the honey oak.

But really, I think my favourite use of black has to be the exterior of our old cedar house. I really love the juxtaposition of the modern black paint colour with the very traditional and rustic cedar siding. It’s just so good.

As you can see, a pop of black can make all the difference. And, while there are truly endless ways you can bring a touch of black into a space, today, I wanted to chat about one of the easiest and least expensive of them all – paint! Whether it’s your walls, doors, or furniture, black paint is hands down one of the easiest ways to have a big impact within any space.
Finding the perfect black can be more difficult than you might expect, so today I thought I’d share all of my favourite go-to black paint colours. I’d still suggest picking up paint swatches of our favourites to look at in whatever space it is you’ll be painting, but these tried & true black paint colours will be a perfect place to start.

As you may have noticed in the photos above, Black Beauty and Onyx are probably my two biggest go-to’s when it comes to black paint colours, but I have sampled all of the others and I really think they would all be a great option depending on the space.
Do you have your own go-to black paint colour? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
