I cant wait to show y’all how we’re planning to give our boring old hallway some rustic charm with a farmhouse style hallway makeover.
Good morning friends!
I’m so, so excited to finally share our first reno project of 2016!
Our boring, and frankly, rather ugly hallway space is about to a much-needed makeover.
I’m going to make this part short and sweet because, well, it’s a hallway – here’s what we’ll be starting with:
The view standing at the top of our stairs, looking left…
Our master bedroom is behind me, my craft room to the left & our guest bath to the right. Carson’s room is down at the other end of the hall, with a guest room on either side as well.
Just look at those peachy, pink walls. Perfect.
We’ve got ourselves a total mix of various metals and door hardware. Mixed metals might be “in”, but here lies a great example of what NOT to do.
There’s also some pretty fancy lighting.
And, this old thermostat might be charming (and also covered in peachy-pink paint), but it’s definitely nowhere close to efficient.
And here’s a view from the other end, looking back to the top of the stairs (on the right) and our master bedroom at the end.
And now, let’s knock those awful images out of your head with a look at our design plans to create a farmhouse style hallway:
As you can see, there will be some board + batten, industrial lighting, farmhouse style trim, rustic artwork, fancy black hardware from Schlage and a planked ceiling to top it all off.
{sigh}
Sure sounds like a lot of work.
But, I have no doubt it’s going to be a pretty amazing space when we’re done with it. Well, as amazing as a hallway can be anyway.
Stay tuned my friends!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
*UPDATE: See how it all came together in the end with our farmhouse style hallway reveal here!
And check out all of our DIY hallway projects below:
I like everything except the light, it looks a little bathroomish?
Thanks June! Hopefully you’ll like it more when you see the finished space 😉
This is going to be so pretty! I love your vision for this space. Board + batten will be such a nice touch. I’ve always wanted to incorporate that into my house somehow, so I’m excited to learn from you!
Awwww, you are always much too sweet! Thank you SO, SO much Jenna! xo
fun! I really like the black hardware :). The nice thing about hallways is that they’re not as overwhelming as other rooms; you can actually see the results so much quicker. We’re about to start on our hallway, too.
You’re right Gretchen, it’s overwhelming to think about, but it’s definitely a smaller scale to work with, so should go pretty quickly! Thanks so much and good luck with your own hallway renovation!!!
Love the details that you plan to add. It is going to look fantastic Kristi!
Awwww, thank you SO much Krista! I can’t wait to see it all come together!!!
I can hardly wait to see it too. Yes, it does sound like a lot of work, but in the end it’ll be so rewarding! I’d be tempted to put a chair out there and sit awhile, just staring…..
Thank you SO, SO much Debbie! I might need a chair there too after all this work 😉
Looks like a beautiful plan! I would liked to have seen that little man Carson standing in the hall to make it a perfect picture.
Awwwww, well thanks Treva! I’ll be sure to share some pictures of him helping us along the way 😉
Hi Kristi, Loving your hallway plans. Keep focused on them – I know you’ll get there 🙂 It’ll be worth it in the end. Good luck with it all – look forward to seeing your reveal! Also hoping to tackle our hall landing and stairs this yr… seems a long way off right now…
Thank you SO much Gill! We’ve been talking about doing this for the last year, it feels great to finally get going with things! Thanks again!
🙂
Love this!!! Thanks for sharing your great ideas!
Thank you SO, SO much Constance!
Based on what you have planned, it will be super nice when completed. Loving the planked ceilings. Visiting from Party In Your PJs.
Thank you SO, SO much!!!
Do you get “Fixer Upper” on HGTV? Chip & Joanna Gaines redo houses. I think you’d like her farmhouse style. Minimalist and classy. Brenda
Thank you Brenda! YES, I’m obsessed with Fixer Upper and Joanna’s beautiful style!!! You’ve got me all figured out already. 😉 Thanks so much!
LOL! We have matching thermostats! We are hoping to replace it this spring when we update our living room! Love your design choices-can’t wait to see the finished space!!
Thank you CD! It’s definitely time for it to go … it’s actually all in Fahrenheit (which is like a foreign language for us here in Canada). Thanks again!
I love your plans – it’s going to look gorgeous!!
Thank you SO, SO much Jenny! I cannot wait to see it all come together!
Absolutely beautiful! Hallways are so overlooked, but a gorgeous one like this reminds me to give some love to MY hallways. I love all of the wainscotting…simply lovely!
Thank you Kristin! It’s crazy how excited I am about all of this … here’s hoping it turns out as pretty as I’m picturing it!
Kristi,
You have an amazing inspirational board, dear one!
Forgetting what lies behind, stay focused on the prize ahead!
This could be the start of something b i g!
Fondly,
Pat
You are so super sweet! It’s been a LONG day of painting, caulking, planking, and of course wrangling a toddler through it all – this is just what I needed to see at this moment! Thank you so much Pat! xo
This will look wonderful. I love farmhouse style and I believe it is here to stay.
Thank you SO much! I think you’re right, those neutral colours and warm woods aren’t going anywhere!
I love your vision, I think it’s going to be great. Looking forward to seeing the finished reality.
Thank you SO much Sam! I can’t wait to see it all come together!!!
Love the farmhouse style. I think you have some great ideas! The finishes are pretty — love the cabinet and light! I’ve started incorporating the farmhouse style into my home too. It is so easy to add with a modern twist. Good luck on your project. Visiting from Link Palooza 😀 Happy I found you!
Thank you SO, SO much Tammi! I’m thrilled you like what you see! I cannot wait to see it all come together!
