A light + airy farmhouse style Summer home tour.

Today, I’m so thrilled to be taking part in a Summer home tour blog hop with an incredible group of bloggers to bring you all sorts of Summer decorating inspiration. If you’re popping over from Inspiration for Moms, welcome – I’m SO happy you’re here! You can find all of the other home tours being shared throughout the week linked up at the bottom of this post.
If you’re new around here, welcome to our little 1970’s home, turned cottage farmhouse. It’s been 6+ years in the making, but this old house from the seventies has sure come a long way! If you’re interested, you can read more about our renovation journey here, including before and after photos of each room in our home.

I’m all about keeping things simple around here and I’d say that’s doubly true through the Summer months. I want our home to feel airy + relaxing with just enough simple decor elements to keep things feeling cozy + inviting. Our entryway is open to the rest of our main floor, so I really like to focus on keeping this space feeling clean and uncluttered. This old chippy dresser at our front door helps to corral all of the things we need access to as we leave the house – our sunglasses, car keys, etc. – I love that it’s an easy way to keep everything handy while still having it all tucked away out of sight.
To the left of our entryway you’ll find our living room, which is made up of layer upon layer of neutral colours. Thought the colour scheme is quite simple in here, I love to work in as much texture as I can through the fabrics and finishes throughout the space. The only pops of colour in here come from the sage greens and soft pinks in the wool rug, which are mirrored in a more dramatic way in the vintage art hanging beside our window.

More vintage art and a few quilts bring a bit of colour to the other side of this room as well.

The living room also opens up to our kitchen and dining space. Though the neutral colour scheme continues on through these spaces as well, I’ve added some colour through bits of greenery, art and the cutest little runner in our kitchen.

One of my favourite things about our home is how open the kitchen and living room spaces are. I love that can be cooking away in the kitchen while still visiting with our friends and family.

Tucked in behind our kitchen is our mudroom and a little powder room. As you can imagine, these spaces see a whole lot of action with everyone running in and out through here all Summer long.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour around our main floor as we enjoy it through the warm Summer months. I’ve tried to link up most of the decor items pictured below, but if you find yourself wondering about any of the finishings, furniture or decor, you’ll find most of it detailed in our home tour here.
