They say you spend one third of your life sleeping (you know, the proverbial they that seem to know everything!). Why should luxury be kept to fancy hotels? If you’re wondering how to make a beautiful, cozy & luxurious bed to rival even the fanciest hotels, try these tips!
First things first – it’s all about quality my friends! You’ll never have a luxurious bed without a quality mattress and luxurious bedding. Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean expensive, but it does mean you’ll probably want to avoid those discount department stores we all love so much.
one: Build the right foundation. Get yourself all set up with a beautiful bed frame & the very best mattress. This part is definitely dictated by personal preference. Tastes vary a ton when it comes to mattresses (foam, springs, firmness, etc.), so you’re definitely going to want to test the options out yourself to decide what’s going to give you the best sleep possible. Tastes in furniture can vary even more, but as long as you’re buying a quality bed frame/ headboard that you love, you can’t really go wrong here.
two: Nothing says luxury like soft sheets. There are places in your life to skimp and save, but sheets are not one of them my friends. Aim for a cotton set with a thread count between 300-400 (anything higher and you’re just wasting your money – you can read more about that here).
three: Warm it up. Find the coziest duvet (I love a nice, thick feather duvet) and wrap it up in a beautiful duvet cover. Keep in mind, you’re not just going for looks here, you should be on the hunt for a quality cover that’s both soft AND pretty. Crane & Canopy has a ton of gorgeous options to choose from and I can’t gush enough about the incredible quality of their bedding!
The Vienna not only had that perfect farmhouse look I was going for in my new master bedroom, but I’ve honestly never felt anything so soft and luxurious in my life! We’ve had expensive bedding in the past, but the quality didn’t compare to what we got with Crane & Canopy, and for just 1/4 of the price – seriously, such great value! With it’s hidden zipper closures and ties inside to hold the corners of the duvet in just the right spot (honestly, is there anything more annoying than having your duvet shift to one side of the cover?!), I’m telling you, I fell hard for this gorgeous bedding!
four: Layer on the pillows. You’ll want sleeping pillows, decorative pillows (that match your duvet set) and a throw pillow or two for a bit of extra style. Nothing says comfy more than a pile of pillows – though you’ll want to remember that there can be too much of a good thing, so don’t go too overboard with these.
five: Throw on a throw. Not only is a throw blanket at the end of your bed a great way to inject some added texture, but it’s the perfect blanket to curl up with at nap time (on the rare occasion that might happen!).
There’s just nothing like crawling into a beautiful, cozy & luxurious bed at the end of a long day. I hope these five simple tips inspire you to create your own luxurious place to rest & recharge too!
