Okay, I know what you’re thinking…

This must be the slooooowest office makeover in the history of the world.

And you know what, it probably is.

{sigh}

I’m still holding onto hope that it will all be worth it!

But that doesn’t make all of this waiting any easier.

It may have taken six long months, but things are finally starting to come together…

With the main pieces of the puzzle taken care of (read: desk & chair), I can’t wait to start filling the rest of the space with some practical pieces that not only look pretty, but bring some functionality to the space.

And friends, have I found the perfect piece to get me started!

I’ve had this old china cabinet in our kitchen for years now. Though I love the pretty details on this vintage piece, I’ve always had other plans in mind for this one. Since the day my mother-in-law gifted it to us so many years ago (keep in mind this was long before our days of DIYing), I’ve thought it would make for the most lovely storage in a bedroom or office space.

This Spring I was so over the moon excited to see my visions for the matching buffet come to life in our new farmhouse style bathroom space

It had me all the more eager to finally tackle the matching cabinet!

I slipped a few pieces of boxboard in front of the glass to protect it.

And, thanks to this brilliant tool, I had the entire thing all painted up in less than ten minutes (and that’s two coats my friends)! Can you believe it?!

I hummed and hawed trying to pick a colour for ages and, after weeks of looking at samples, I finally decided on this lovely gray green {otherwise known as CONTENTED} from Sherwin-Williams.

I love the subtle pop of colour it brings to the space!

In fact, I loved this gorgeous colour SO much, I even used it to paint up this lovely little 2-tier tray

  1. Did you use a spray gun to paint this? And if so what brand do you use? I’m looking to purchase one. PS I love! love! love! the cabinet!

  2. It is a stunning piece, Kristi! I love the door especially and that color is perfect! CANNOT wait to see the whole room! Xo

    1. Thank you Joan! I didn’t bother sealing this as it won’t see a ton of hard use, but if you choose to paint something you use on a daily basis or might be a bit harder on, you should definitely think about sealing it.

  3. What a gorgeous piece! I would have never thought to try a gray-green like that but I love how it’s a pop of color that still reads “neutral”!

    1. YES! That’s exactly what I was going for! I love that colour so much that I’m thinking it might just work its way into some other rooms as well. Thank you so, so much Megan!

  4. Kristi, such a gorgeous old cabinet and the paint job you did makes the cabinet look so nice! Also love the vanity in the washroom. Both these pieces are beautiful and you have done such a great job at painting them! You are so talented! Enjoy these lovely pieces in your beautiful home!

  5. Wow, Kristi, that came out incredible! And the color goes so well with your walls! Both pieces, the one in your bathroom and this one are gorgeous! What’s a little more time when the end result looks like this! And not just beautiful but storage to boot~I love it!

  6. I love the makeover. The color is soft, but makes a statement. That piece would look great in an office, family room bedroom or dining room. The possibilities are endless.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts?
