Happy day before the day before my friends!
Tomorrow the festivities start here in the Mercer house with a delicious turkey dinner (my favourite!) and some cranberry pudding for desert. We always have our big dinner on Christmas Eve so that I don’t have to waste a minute of Christmas Day in the kitchen. Once we’ve got the kitchen all put back together again, Carson gets to open a special Christmas Eve gift bag – every year we tuck in a new Christmas book, a holiday movie, a pair of Christmas pj’s, a new special tree ornament and a yummy little treat. Then we finish the night off with a drive around town to look at Christmas lights in our holiday pj’s, hot cocoa in hand. Usually Carson falls asleep somewhere along the way and then, once we’ve got him all tucked into bed, the grown ups all curl up on the couch for one last Christmas Vacation. The next morning, I’m always the first one up – sipping coffee & reading on the couch under the glow of the Christmas tree while I wait for the house to wake up (read: Carson). Once I hear footsteps from up above, I pop a special breakfast casserole in the oven for us to enjoy after we open our gifts. Then, the rest of Christmas Day is spent playing and puzzling and snuggling up for movies, making all the magical memories we can together as a family.

As we snuggle in and enjoy these last moments before Christmas, I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for all of the support, kind words and encouragement you’ve shown me. I understand how precious your time is and I am just so incredibly grateful that you choose to spend some of it with me in this little corner of the internet. I hope reading this blog and following along with our adventures has brought you as much joy as sharing it has brought us!

And so, from our family to yours – we wish you the Merriest Christmas and all the best in the year to come!
