Happy Friday friends! I hope you had a great week! Between pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating and yet more painting in between it all, our week just flew right by. With Halloween behind us and a fresh blanket of snow on the ground, we’re ready to move right on into the holiday season around here. I did some much needed organizing of our storage room this week as I tucked all of our Fall decorations away for another year – just peeking into a few of our Christmas boxes & bins as I was organizing had me excited to start pulling it all out soon! Carson and I have some big plans this weekend to light a holiday candle, turn on some Christmas tunes and start scattering some decorations around the house. My favourite part, after a long day of decorating, is curling up in front of the tree, hot chocolate in hand, for a Christmas movie together before bed. I know it seems so early to be jumping into the Christmas season to many of you, but it’s such a special time, I’ve always felt like we might as well enjoy the magic of all as long as we can. Are you planning to dig out the Christmas decorations this weekend too, or do you plan to wait for a while yet?
Knowing we’d be filling the house up with all things Christmas soon, I’ve been on a mission to get as much painting done as I can around the house. Last week I finished up the last of the ceilings on our main floor (my least favourite of painting jobs) and this week I tackled the study walls, taking them from a boring beige to a dark & moody brown/black. It turned out even better than I’d imagined, I cannot wait to share it with you (catch a sneak peek over on Instagram)!
This week, I also ordered up our window coverings for the study and my goodness, they’re going to be SO good! After months of waffling between roman shades or curtains for our windows, I decided to ask for your help over on Instagram and I had SO many messages from people sharing their thoughts and opinions about which way I should go and why. The poll showed a very clear win for roman shades with about 65% in favour of the more streamlined look, which didn’t surprise me really. What did surprise me, was my reaction to that – with each vote for roman shades, I found myself feeling a little disappointed, which of course made me realize that I already knew what I wanted to do (even if it wasn’t what everyone else had chosen). I knew I’d regret not going with the softness of curtains in this cozy little space and I love that the bold colour and pattern of the fabric we chose will really have a chance to shine so much more with the curtains. Just in case you missed it, here’s a little sneak peek at the wall colour and fabric we chose for our study.

Speaking of finally making some decisions around here, I also ordered up a couple more rugs for our main living spaces that I’m super excited about! I think this beautiful rug will work so perfectly in our main living room, and I ordered it up in the largest size possible to help hide the awful floors in there until we get around to changing them out. I also couldn’t resist throwing this one into my cart too – I think the colours and soft feel will be a perfect addition to our office. While we’ve got A LOOOOOONG way to go around here, it’s pretty exciting to finally start making some decisions!

My favourite reads from the week…

This kitchen is what dreams are made of.
I LOVE apple or rhubarb crisp, but I’d never thought of making a cranberry crisp. This sounds amazing!
Head-over-heels in love with this pretty little pantry.
Loving the colours and textures in this new area rug collection.
Whipped up these creamy garlic pork chops this week – super quick & easy and SO yummy!
Here’s the Instagram account I just can’t get enough of this week.

Finally, here’s the book I finished up this week. It was one of the sweetest, most heartwarming stories I’ve ever read, would definitely recommend!
Wishing you the most lovely weekend! Let me know if you have any fun plans in the comments below!
