One Room Challenge {Week Five}: Walls, Paint & Barn House Lights – Oh the Difference a Week can Make!

And here we are…

Week FIVE of this crazy One Room Challenge! Can you believe it?

And thank goodness, our farmhouse style bathroom is starting to look like a bathroom!

Well, a room with walls and floors at least.

With one short week to go, we’ve got ourselves some pretty floors (though they still need to be grouted)…

A lovely tiled shower (also missing grout)…

Walls (a useful addition to any room of course!)…

Decked out in shiplap I might add, and painted in a lovely soft white colour from Sherwin-Williams…

And of course, some fab new lights from Barn Light Electric…

With just one week left to go, we’ve certainly got our work cut out for us! Here’s a quick little recap of what’s left (find all the details about our plans for the finished space here):
– demo yucky old bathroom
– install electrical for new lights (from one to three)
– install plumbing for new sinks (from one to two)
– install plumbing for turning the toilet
– install plumbing for new tub
– build out shower base
– tile shower walls and floor
– tile bathroom floor
– install drywall
– install plank walls
– paint plank walls
– make double vanity
– install new vanity, sinks, & faucets
– install tub and roman faucet
– install toilet
– install shower head and tap
– paint & install new baseboards (like this)
– install new lighting
– install glass enclosure for shower (this one’s not going to happen in time)
– hang mirrors
– hang towel hooks, paper holder and hand towel ring
– decorate

And of course, a few more things I couldn’t help but add to the list (because obviously we don’t have enough to do already!):
– make bathtub shelf
– build towel ladder
– build and install built in shelves
– make wall crates for extra storage

I know we’ve got SO far to go in just one short week, but waking up to a view like this is just the motivation I needed to push me through this last little bit…

I bet you’re wondering what this is all costing us and how I’m keeping track of it all …

I’m putting my favourite budgeting tool to work again on this project. ItSums has been such a huge help as we plan each renovation project throughout our home! Honestly, I can’t say enough great things about this brilliant site! It keeps track of links, photos and costs for every product we use. It also organizes it all into categories so we can see how much we’ve spent and on what, and it even let’s us mark things as purchased, so that we know exactly how much we’ve spent and how much we’ve still got to budget for. You’re definitely going to want to hop on over to our Farmhouse Style Bathroom board to see how it all works!

Now, be sure to check out the other One Room Challenge Makeovers – there’s A TON of talent to see my friends!

Here’s hoping that the next time we chat I’ll have a finished bathroom to share! Ahhhhhhh! Wish me luck friends!

    1. Thank you sweet friend! I have to give mad props to hubs, who has been working countless hours on this bathroom after coming home from very long days at his day job all week too. Cannot wait to be on the other side of this thing (soaking in our new bathtub!).

  1. This room is going to be gorgeous and worth every minute of work! I love how it is all coming together! Cheering you on to the finish line this week!

  2. Kristi, I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this is, but I’m sure you already know that. So fab! Love your designs and love you. Looking forward to next weeks reveal.

    1. You are just the sweetest Deb, thank you! It’s so exciting to finally see some of the elements in the space, cannot wait to see how they all come together!

  3. Again just like the master makeover I sit here waiting everyday to see what your doing. And of course it is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I can hardly wait to see the reveal.

    1. Awwwwww, well thank you Chris! I’m thrilled to hear that you like what you’re seeing so far! Can’t wait for the reveal next week!

  4. Amazing! You have come a long way. I am having light fixture envy. Those farmyard shades are stunning on that shiplap wall. You have done very, very well. Can’t wait to see your reveal!

    1. Thank you so, so much Peggy! Aren’t they gorgeous? I am head over heels in love with them! Can’t wait for the reveal! Thanks again!

  5. Kristi the tile and lighting is just fabulous! I can’t wait for the reveal! I love the direction the space is going in. As a fellow ORC participant it’s been wonderful to gather some fantastic inspiration. I’d love for you to share your progress at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. Our readers would love to see it. The gathering is at http://www.decortoadore.net

  6. If I were you, I would periodically go into the bathroom just to pet the new tile and planks. Ha! It’s all SO beautiful! I am dying to see the finished product!

  7. Coming right along aren’t you? Lots of hard work but so worth it. Has your hubs told you no more projects after bathroom done?
If not he’s a super duper champ. When people enter into a project like you two did, have to keep finished product in mind, helps to keep you going to end. Can hardly wait to see final reveal, will be incredible, wowsa.
What you have accomplished so far is fantastic girl, love those barn lights, shower, tiling, all of it.
Good luck to you on finishing.
    Have great weekend

    1. Thank you SO much JaneEllen! We’re definitely keeping our eyes on the prize – can’t wait to relax in that new tub when this is all over! Hubs has been SUCH a HUGE help – he’s the one pulling me through it all! Wishing you wonderful weekend too!

  8. This makes my heart go pitter-patter! SO excited for you as you near the finish line. It’s looking so good.

  9. Your bathroom is really looking awesome. Love the way you made your list & cross it off! That’s how I do everything. There is so much to do in a room makeover and you are making great progress. Can’t wait to see the finished room

  10. The room is really beautiful but what takes it to another level is the addition of the lighting fixtures, now those are really special! I’m going to jump over and see the reveal… and I won’t have to wait a full week! Thanks Kristi for providing us with lots of Sweet Inspiration.

  11. This bathroom is amazing and a dream! I’m starting the same process and I’m totally jealous with yours. Really… We will see how it goes with ours.
I have a question for you. I’m looking for the rectangular white tile reference but cannot seem to find it. Could you please facilitate that to me? Thank you.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts?
