These simple farmhouse style DIY linen dish towels are SO quick + easy to make, even the newest of sewers can whip one up in just minutes!
Is there anything more lovely in its simplicity…
More versatile…
More farmhouse…
Than pure linen?
In case you haven’t noticed already, linen is one of my very favourite fabrics to use in our home. For everything from curtains to napkins, I just adore the softness and simplicity of linen.
Which is why I just couldn’t resist ordering up a big old pile of the softest linen in all sorts of beautiful colours (here’s where I found mine in case you were wondering).
I’ve got some BIG plans for all of this (as I promised my hubs when he opened the package). A long, long list of beautiful, simple, farmhouse style sewing projects that I just can’t wait to share.
And today, I’m so excited to be kicking things off with these lovely linen dish towels.
They’re so soft + beautiful, and of course, practical too.
And best of all, they’re so quick + easy to make.
DIY Linen Dish Towel Tutorial
SUPPLIES:
– your favourite linen fabric (I found mine here & here) *1 yard will make 4 dish towels
– really good quality thread
– a few inches of lovely ribbon
METHOD:
one. Cut a 18″ x 26″ rectangle of linen.
two. Sew a 1/2″ seam all around wrong side of fabric. I don’t even bother pinning the fabric before sewing, but just eyeball the seam, folding as I sew – I think the slight imperfections that come up just add to the rustic charm, but you might choose to pin your seam to keep your seam really straight all the way around.
three. Fold a 5″ length of ribbon over itself and attach it against the wrong side of the fabric, in centre of one side to create a loop to hang the towel. Face the top of the ribbon loop towards the middle of the dish towel and be sure to sew over and then backstitch the entire width of the ribbon to ensure it is securely attached.

Sorry, I’m late to the game but I was wondering if anyone had to pay Duty when they ordered the linen to Canada?
Hi Erin, I can’t remember for sure, but I don’t think I ended up paying any duty when I ordered the linen fabric. Sorry I can’t be more help.
Love love love these towels! Going to make some myself.
