Hello, hello!
We’ve got just six, count them SIX, sleeps left until Christmas! Can you believe it? There’s still a ton of wrapping, baking, and of course crafting left to do before the big day arrives! Anyone else feeling a bit rushed here?! I have a feeling I won’t get through near what I was hoping to this Christmas season! But you know what? That’s OKAY! Christmas isn’t about getting it all done! In fact, if there was ever a time to slow down and enjoy the journey, Christmas is it! So, despite being busier & more stressed out than ever (remember those BIG things in the works I was hinting at last week) – or perhaps because of it all – Brady and I are making every effort we can to just slow down and enjoy the magic of the season with our little man. His excitement of course is making this a pretty easy task! Baking, Santa, movies, reindeer, hot chocolate, snow men, tobogganing, Christmas trees, lights – if it has to do with Christmas, this little guy is OBSESSED! I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to not enjoy this time of year when you get to live it through the eyes of a child once again! Needless to say, although I’d love to get one or two (or ten!) more projects in before Santa arrives at the Mercer house, I’m not making any promises my friends!
The Festive Cone Christmas Trees I’m sharing with y’all today have been sitting around just waiting for their chance to be in the spotlight, so you can imagine how excited I am to finally share them today!
Lets start with the more time consuming of the two first, shall we? Ever since laying eyes on this GORGEOUS tree at Target last year, I’ve been dreaming of having my very own! I always say I’ll pick one up on sale after Christmas, but living hours away from the closest Target store tends to get in the way of my brilliant, money saving schemes! I mean really, who’s going to travel 2.5 hours with a toddler just days after Christmas to pick up Christmas decorations that I won’t even be able to enjoy until next year?! So, having embarked on my very first Christmas season as a blogger, I have to say that buying one of these little trees didn’t even cross my mind this year (okay, maybe for just a moment). In fact, when I started dreaming about all of the Christmas projects I’d like to tackle this year, this little red flower tree was the first to pop into my head! And, after making my flower pumpkins this Fall, I knew just how I was going to do it!
I started by cutting out and rolling up about a zillion little red felt flowers. If you’d like to read more about how I made them, just pop by my flowered pumpkin post here.
I simply worked from the top down gluing each little flower onto the cardboard base with my trusty hot glue gun.
Now to make my flowers stretch a little bit further, I covered my cardboard cone with some red scrapbook paper first. Don’t ask me how I learned that I needed to stretch the flowers further (twice). Just keep in mind that with the red background, you won’t have to worry so much about covering every single inch of the cardboard to make it look nice and full, which saves you having to make a zillion more flowers. It also might save you an hour long drive to pick up more red felt if you happen to run out! Just saying.
The second tree is just as pretty I think, though it was SO MUCH easier to make! I simply wrapped an old plaid scarf around the cone and placed some twine around it all to hold it all together.
I’m not sure which one I love more … I’m thinking they’re both pretty darn cute!
If you’d like to stay in touch through the holidays, follow along with me on Instagram and Facebook – you may just find me spilling the beans about what’s been keeping us SO busy these last few months! And just in case I don’t make it back here before the big day … I’m wishing you the merriest Christmas with your family and the very best in the year to come my friends!!!

I like that you used red instead of some of the more traditional Christmas colors. I’m also a big fan of your “a zillion” flowers. Thanks for linking up to the Creative Spark last week!
