How’s your week going so far? We’ve had a cold & rainy (even snowy!) few days here, but it’s been a perfect opportunity to work on a few inside projects this week. Do you remember this list of projects we’d hoped to tackle this Summer? Well, we’re ever-so-slowly working our way through, and of course, already adding a few extras along the way (my Mom and I actually tackled a little landscaping project last weekend – I’ll be sure to share some pictures in tomorrow’s Weekend Reading post!).

You might remember, with finishing our basement we’ve had a few room switches around here to figure out – the back living room moved down to the basement, the upstairs office moved down to our main floor where our back living room used to be and on top of it all, Carson changed bedrooms to free up some space to create a bunkbed room that he can use for sleepovers with his friends. It’s been a couple of months now since Carson moved into his new room (catch our latest progress update here), and I’ve been slowly working on getting his old room ready for the bunk beds ever since.

So far, I’ve painted the ceiling in Cloud White to match the doors, trim and walls, including the wood plank wall, in Edgecomb Gray. Last week, we were finally able to move the bunk beds from the old office into their new home. It wasn’t easy to find space for two sets of bunkbeds, but moving moving C into his new bedroom to free up his old room (which just so happens to be the largest bedroom aside from our own) was totally worth it – I’m so happy with how well they fit in this new space.

With the bunkbed situation finally figured out, I’m excited to start decorating this little space! Really, I’m planning to keep things pretty simple in here – I think some light neutral colours and just the bare minimum of furniture will help keep things feeling as bright and open as possible, which is extra important with those big bunkbeds taking over this space. I’ve got my Mom making some lovey quilts to bring some colour to the foot of each bed and I’m thinking a little wall lamp beside each bunk would be a fun little touch. With the bunkbeds taking up most of the wall space, there really isn’t much room to hang art or decor, but I would like to add something over this little desk to bring another pop of colour to the space – I’m thinking a print or maybe even a framed puzzle would look really cute here.
To give you a better idea of where I’m going with things in here (and to bring everything together in my own head as well), I’ve put together a mood board for this little bunkbed room. You can find links to everything pictured by clicking through the photo reel below the mood board…

Though the decor in here will be quite simple, in the end, I think this little bunk room will be such a fun space for Carson to host sleepovers with his cousins and friends! Now that the bunkbeds are all set up in here and the space is at least functional, I’m not feeling too rushed to get things finished up – instead, like Carson’s bedroom, I think I’ll just slowly chip away in here as I come across those perfect pieces to add that cozy modern cottage charm. I was thinking I might share a few round ups of some of the furniture and decor I’ve been window shopping so far, would you be interested in seeing that? Or would you rather wait for the final reveal (whenever that happens to be)? Let me know in the comments below!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!Â

Looks great!! We are just about to start designing a bunk room for our girls in our new home too (in Sydney). Great inspiration!
