Hi Everyone! My name is Lindi, and I blog over atย Love Create Celebrate, where I blog about everything that I love, create, and celebrate. I’m SO excitedย to be guest posting for Kristi today! Kristi is one of my first, and best bloggy friends, so I was thrilled when she asked me to be a guest at making it in the mountains!
Since Kristi has a little boy, I thought this would be a great opportunity to share one of my fun boy DIY’s! I hope you like theย Bottle Cap Magnetsย that I’ll be sharing.
Materials to get started:
Craft Bottle caps (you can also get them in funky colours!)
Magnets
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
Something to cut circles
Scraps of Scrapbook Paper
I started by picking out some boy-ish scrapbook paper scraps. Then I found some great (optional) leftover accessories that would fit inside the bottle caps. You couldย easilyย make these for a girl too, just by adjusting the paper choices and accessories ๐
Next, I cut 1″ circles out of the paper. You could do this with a cricut, a 1″ punch, or a circle cutter (that’s what I used!). Cut one circle for each bottle cap.
Place the circle inside of the bottle cap. If you are adding any accessories (such as my skull and star above!) add them on top of the paper now. When you have the paper and accessories in place, cover them in Mod Podge Dimensional Magic. Let this dry for a few hours, or overnight. The Mod Podge gives the paper a really cool effect – my husband say these on the counter and thought I bought them!
Finally, when they are dry, add your magnets to the backside of the bottle caps.
That’s it!! Now you have some amazing and unique bottle caps for your son’s (or daughter’s!) magnet board! It turns out that I had absolutelyย nothing in my house that I could pretend to put onto a boy’s magnet board #bloggerproblems! I guess that’s what happens when you only have a girl ๐ Hopefully these boy-ish cut-outs will give you an idea of how these magnets would look!
I love how fun and playful the magnets are! Once they were done Iย really wanted to make a set for my daughter, with flower accessories in the middle ๐ You will likely see some pastel ones in her bedroom one day!
I hope you like them!
