Is Tidying up with the KonMari Method Really that Life Changing? Here are 6 ways that decluttering + organizing have changed our lives.

It’s time again for another instalment of our cozy living series my friends. Y’all know how much I adore these cozy posts, I always look forward to seeing all of the cozy inspiration everyone has to share each month. Don’t forget to check out all of the lovely cozy living ideas at the end of this post.

Often times, when I think of creating a cozy feeling home, I think of what I can add to each space to evoke that comfortable, soft, lived in feeling. I tend to focus on bringing in layers of texture, warm colour tones (albeit quite subtle usually), and cozy decor items.

All of these elements come together to create that cozy living feel that we all tend to crave through these cold Winter months.
But, as Spring draws near – as the temperatures start to rise and the days grow longer, I always feel the need to start shedding some of those layers. I really begin to crave a cleaner feeling, less cluttered home and I start to find comfort in that less is more feel.

It was three years ago, right around this time, that I discovered The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. After devouring the book in just a few days, it wasn’t long before I was putting the KonMari method to work in our own home (you can read all about that journey here).

It took us months to work our way through the whole house, but oh my goodness, it was SO worth it! Three years later, we’re still letting the principles we’d learned guide our lives. We’re still enjoying living in a tidier, less cluttered home.

I really do think that tidying our home with the KonMari Method has been a life-changing as the title of the book would suggest. Check out the video below to find out 6 ways that tidying up has changed our lives…

I haven’t read the book yet but was blown away but the impact her method made on people on the TV show. So amazing. I do believe clutter can clutter our mind and add to anxiety. Thanks for sharing your tips.
I totally agree Danielle! Clearing the clutter always helps my mind feel clearer too. Thanks so much!
De-cluttering is on my list, too. I have so much stuff from blogging that I had to rent a storage unit. Ugh. I’m going to purge everything in there and donate most of it to charity. I may have to get that book!
I hear ya! I built up quite the collection over the years too, but it felt SO great to clear out all of those things I no longer loved or needed. Good luck Jennifer!
I feeling the need to shed some decor layers myself right now. Ins spring you always want things lighter. I enjoyed seeing your decluttering process. I watched her on Netflix, she’s such a cute little thing!
She really seems so sweet! I agree, I’m always looking to make things feel fresh and uncluttered in the Spring too. Thanks so much!
This is so motivating! I am working on getting rid of clutter and having less stuff taking up space in my home. 🙂
It’s such a great feeling to get rid of all that extra clutter! Thanks so much Michelle!
