Earlier this week, I shared a post filled to the brim with all of the ideas for our main floor that have been floating around my head lately (you can check it out here if you missed it). They were all relatively simple + inexpensive things that we could do to update each of the spaces all around our main floor. It’ll be a while before we make our way through all of the renovations upstairs and can start working on some of these spaces around our main floor and, while I don’t want to invest too much time and money into things that we’ll just be ripping in out again down the road, it’s definitely still worth it to me to put at least a little work into these rooms. After all, they are the places that we gather to spend the most time together as a family.
One of the ideas that I shared in that post was painting out our kitchen cabinets. I’m sure it’s no surprise that I’m not really a fan of this two tone look with the awkward mix of oak and white. I’d also really love to switch out the glass panels for wood – I get the concept on a cupboard filled with lovely dishes, but I don’t feel like I need a view of my baking pans or the pull out shelves. While we’re planning a total gut and layout change to this space down the road, there’s no reason I can’t fix a few of these little annoyances for the time being, especially when all it will really take is a bit of paint. Plus, painting out these cabinets would be the perfect opportunity to test out a colour or two that isn’t just a safe and easy white before we have to really commit through our renovation (not that I don’t love a beautiful white cabinet, just looking to try something different this time around).

So today, I thought it would be fun to share some of the cabinet colour inspiration I’ve been saving away on Instagram. The more I look through these inspiration images below, the more sure I am that there’s no need to wait until we replace these cabinets to enjoy the character and sophistication that a cabinet colour update could bring to our kitchen! I say bring on the paint!
