Neutral farmhouse style holiday decor paired with lots of rich texture and a few pops of plaid come together to create a nostalgic + cozy Christmas home tour.
Our Holiday Home Tour is always one of my favourite posts to share each year. Filled with rich textures, twinkling lights and a bit of holiday tradition, I don’t think our home ever feels cozier than when it’s all decked out for the holidays!
Last year, we really focused on keeping things simple through the holiday season, which left us with so much more time, energy and money to really soak in and enjoy every magical minute of the holidays. That less-is-more approach really left us with more room to enjoy the simple pleasures of the holiday season.
Ridding ourselves of those extravagant expectations that seem to come with Christmas nowadays, left us with more time and energy to really live in the moment, making more happy memories with our family than ever before. And so, I think we’ve officially adopted this idea to keep things simple through the holidays – dropping all of those things we felt we had to do, leaving more time + energy for the things we want to do.
And so, this year’s holiday home tour is definitely a reflection of that – a cozy simplicity with some nostalgic touches that truly make our home feel more cozy + welcoming than ever.
Welcome to our nostalgic + cozy Christmas home
I didn’t add much in terms of decor to our entry way, but the little bit I did add makes a big impact. The gorgeous garland draped down the railing is one of my favourite decor pieces in our entire home – I just think it looks so classic and elegant, especially paired with that beautiful black satin ribbon. A simple table top tree and a lovely candle are all it took to complete this look.
The simple greens and twinkling lights continue into the living room just off of our entryway. A matching garland drapes over our mantel and pairs so beautifully with some simple brass candlesticks. Beside it, our tree looks so lovely decorated with a traditional plaid ribbon, some vintage inspired mercury glass ornaments and a nostalgic pearl bead garland. I worked in lots of cozy knits + faux furs with my pillows, blankets and even the stockings and tree skirt. And of course, I couldn’t resist adding a few nostalgic plaid touches.
I kept things super simple in our kitchen + dining room space as well – working in a bit of holiday greens with some wreaths hanging over the windows and some faux potted trees. I also couldn’t resist adding few mercury glass pieces for a bit of holiday sparkle.
I’ll never get tired of this view while I’m whipping up dinner in the kitchen (truth be told, there’s usually a Hallmark Christmas movie playing on that TV too!).
The cozy holiday decorations continue through the back hallway to our mudroom and family room as well.
With just a few simple pieces that really help to make each space feel cozy + inviting.
And, if you look closely, you’ll catch a glimpse of our family room all decked out for Christmas as well – watch for that full tour next week!
I just love how warm + cozy everything feels all lit up for the holidays!
And just in case the photo tour wasn’t enough, here’s a quick little video tour too:
Wishing you the most wonderful holiday season my friends!

Beautiful and simple…..I especially like how you avoided the clutter that usually comes with Christmas! Oh, and those brass candlesticks ????

Thank you! I think less clutter makes it easier to live with longer, so I’m not in such a hurry to get it all down after Christmas.
