This embroidered flower pillow is a lovely way to add some vintage charm to any space and best of all, it was simple and inexpensive to make!

I’m not sure if it’s the cozy, nostalgic feeling it brings about when I curl up on the sofa with a hoop and needle on my lap, or simply how easy it is to get started, but it’s official my friends, I’ve fallen head-over-heels for all things embroidery. After working my way through my very first embroidery project a couple of weeks ago (and feeling like a total rock star at it thanks to the guidance of a brilliant little kit), I’ve found myself wanting to embroider all the things. And so, when these lovely little pattern stickers arrived on my doorstep, I had the hardest time deciding just what I wanted to stick them onto first. Did I want to create a piece I could frame, or maybe add a pretty detail to some plain old linen napkins? I had SO many ideas spinning around my head (and I can’t wait to work my way through them ALL!). But, in the end, I decided embroidering an inexpensive pillow case would be a great place to start – after all, this would be my first solo project, with no plan or guidance as to what to do where. All I had was a blank pattern in my hand and the knowledge I’d gained in completing my little hoop, so working on an expensive sweater or an entire stack of napkins seemed a daunting next step. Adding some embroidery to an inexpensive pillow cover, well that seemed a little more sensible. Plus, assuming I’d be able to actually create something beautiful without an instruction book in front of me, a pretty little pillow would be a lovely way to add some vintage charm to any space.

You guys, I never would have guessed I could create something so lovely, especially so early in the embroidery game. Armed with the few stitches and techniques I’d learned through completing one of these beginner kits, I somehow managed to create this!

I think it brings such a lovely touch of vintage charm to this little corner of our bedroom and I can’t wait to show you how simple it was to make!
