You won’t believe how easy it was to transform these outdated lamps in just minutes!
After an INCREDIBLY exciting blog makeover this weekend, I’ve been hard at work on a few projects behind the scenes. Hubby and I have some super fun DIY’s planned for this upcoming weekend that I CANNOT wait to share, but in the mean time, I’m SO excited to show you how I’ve transformed my Granny’s old table lamps!
I’ve been planning some sort of revamp for these table lamps since my Mom passed them along to me a couple of years ago. I LOVE the crystal, but the faded brass just wasn’t my thing & those lamp shades were a bit too traditional for my taste. They’ve been spending their days on the bedside tables in our master bedroom being overlooked for far too long!
Right from the beginning I had planned to update the brass with some silver spray paint, but this weekend I came across this pin on Pinterest and I knew instantly that those lamps were just meant to be a glossy white! Feeling inspired, I quickly got to work! I painstakingly taped around the crystal to make sure that not a drop of spray paint touched it. Then, I carefully placed plastic bags over the sections I did not want to paint, including the cord.
Then down to the garage they went for a couple of coats of this glossy white and, like magic, I was left with some pretty stellar lamps! I absolutely LOVE that the gold still shows through the crystal!
It took me weeks and weeks of searching, but I think I finally found the PERFECT lamp shades to complete the transformation!
These lamps really do have a special place in my heart and I am honored that after spending so many years looking at them in my Grandma Bedford’s living room, I get to display them proudly in my own home!
Isn’t it amazing what a little paint can do?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!

That turned out wonderful. I’m debating about painted our living room lamps and can’t decide. I may do the burlap look to the lamp shade though…I like that look. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday.
Kristi says
Thanks Erlene! I’m super happy with how they turned out, but it was definitely a lot of work keeping the glass clear. Totally worth it though 🙂

Holy Moly! Your lamps are FABulous! My grandmother also gifted me with two very heavy, very brassy lamps. I redid the lampshades but now I’m thinking I need to breakout the spray paint to get rid of that brass! 😉
