One hurricane vase – three simple ways to fill it for the holidays.
Hello! Welcome back to another round up of beautiful decorating ideas that you can whip up in just 10 minutes or less!
Y’all, I’m seriously SO excited about this series! I mean honestly, who doesn’t have 10 minutes to spare?
On the first Wednesday of each month, I’ve been teaming up with an amazing group of bloggers to bring you all sorts of inspiration that you’re sure to love. This month’s theme was Christmas and I absolutely cannot wait to see what everyone came up with!
My love for the hurricane vase is pretty obvious when you walk into my house. Seriously, I’ve put them to work in almost every room!
They are such an inexpensive and easy way to decorate. Honestly, what could be easier than throwing a bunch of random crap inside an empty jar?
With an ability to hold and display almost anything, they really are so versatile. Any decor, any budget, seriously, these puppies can do it all.
And everyone has a couple of hurricane vases kicking around (PS. if you’re on the hunt, you can snag a pair of them for just $20 here).
Though I decorate with them all year round, today I thought I’d share a few simple and inexpensive ideas for festive fillers for the holidays.
one: This one might be obvious, but just tucking a candle or three inside creates a lovely, warm atmosphere. Really, there’s nothing cozier than burning candles through these cold winter months and it’s so easy to scatter a few extra ornaments around the bottom to add a bit of extra sparkle (though you may want to stick to flameless candles if you’re adding anything else to the mix).
two: We’ve all seen a hurricane vase filled to the brim with pretty ornaments. There’s a reason my friends. It’s inexpensive and can have such a big impact – I picked up a huge tub of 60 shatterproof ornaments for less than $15 last year (find similar here), which gave me enough to fill four hurricane vases to scatter around our home.
three: My absolute favourite way to fill a hurricane vase, no matter the time of year, is with things found in nature. Twigs, rocks, greenery (I tend to go for faux with this one), or pinecones (if you can’t pick your own, you can purchase some here) are a great way to bring some colour and texture to a room and throwing them into a pretty vase just makes it all look so polished and collected. For the holiday season, I couldn’t resist adding a few string lights to the mix to add a bit of sparkle!
And there you have it my friends, three simple and inexpensive ways to decorate your home for the holidays with a simple glass vase.
Now, I’m dying to see what everyone else came up with for this month’s 10 Minute Decorating!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!

Smart girl Kristi. Buying break proof ornaments. I leaned the hard way when I had little ones. The ideas you present to us are easy and all are gorgeous. And who cannot be happier with a 10 minute decorating idea… unless we obsess over it… lol. Have the Happiest of Holidays.

Thanks SO much! We’ve had a few broken ornaments ourselves, but we’ve certainly learned our lesson too! Thanks again! Merry Christmas!
